2) Internship project: The examination consists of element-based project work which is based on an issue relevant to the internship location. The project work, which must be written within the chosen stream of specialization or in the cross-cutting generalist stream and have an international/intercultural perspective, is comprised of three separate elements.

  1. You are to research the Organizational Structure and Services offered by a metropolitan cityís (big U.S. City) Department of Human Services, Mental Health agency or Psychiatric hospital or Department of Social Services, or related Human Services agency located in a big city (e.g., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.).

Your goal will be to compare and contrast the services and programs of the Metropolitan (big U.S. city) to that of the Programs and services of a local Indiana agency, hospital or mental health facility (e.g., those located in Fort Wayne, Gary, Bloomington, Indianapolis, etc.). In other words, describe how the services offered locally and those offered in a big metropolitan city are similar and how they are different. Be sure to be specific.

Develop a description of three of the typical clients served by each of these agencies (local and metropolitan).

Discuss what parents could learn from such observations and the sharing of results with the teacher. This descriptive study examined classroom activity settings in relation to children’s observed behavior during classroom interactions, child gender, and basic teacher behavior within the preschool classroom. 145 children were observed for an average of 80 minutes during 8 occasions across 2 days using the inCLASS, an observational measure that conceptualizes behavior into teacher, peer, task, and conflict interactions. Findings indicated that on average children’s interactions with teachers were higher in teacher-structured settings, such as a large group.
