Comparative Media Organization and Genre Study conduct comparative research on two regional/national media systems.
The research will involve both institutional and content analysis research. There is some flexibility on the topic, but the paper needs to compare/contrast “media systems” through an examination of specific organizations (e.g. US’s Washington Post, Israel’s Haaretz) or a genre (political satire, romantic comedies, etc.). Whichever comparison you choose to pursue, the paper should inform the reader on relevant media system context by tapping into readings from the course and additional secondary sources. New media has brought along constant evolution to professional journalism practices and news genres.
