Popular Music as Popular US History Write a short critical review
(900-1000 words, approx. 3 pages, double-spaced) of an album of popular music released any time between 1945 and the present day by an American musician, band, group, or performer.
The choice of album and style is entirely up to you. But your task in writing the review is NOT primarily to describe or evaluate the quality of the music, but to put the album in dialogue with the U.S. historical context in which it was produced.
Focus on identifying an album of music that you can argue had cultural or political significance, or whose contents (lyrically and/or musically) spoke to important public issues of the time when it was made.
