The Nature of Capitalism in the Global The focus of the overall class is the (a) various conceptualizations of capitalism; (b) the historical specificity of capitalism; (c) the role and function of the state in capitalist societies;
(d) the universalizing and expansionist tendency of capitalism; (e) the type of capitalist crises; (f) the most recent global crisis and the debate over the causes of the crisis; (g) the nature of economics in the Global South; and (h) the relationship between capitalism and the current ecological crisis. Using two or three of the above topics address the unique nature of capitalism in the Global South.
