Synopsis:
Directions on how to begin and submit the Research Proposal Assignment DIRECTIONS: The synopsis is designed to help students select a specific question of interest and outline an approach for finding an answer to the question. Students are to submit their proposed research synopsis as in the examples discussed below. Research Proposal Synopsis will be 2-3 pages, double spaced, 1″ margins and include: (a) Topic of Research Proposal; (b) Research Question; (c) Justification for the Proposal; (d) Operational definition of Key Terms; (e) Design of the Study; (f) Method; (g) Expected Results; (h) Discussion if Results confirm (or refute) expectations; (i) Expected weakness of the design. The synopsis should be approached as if the student has unlimited resources (money, personnel, etc.) to perform the project. Each synopsis has to be approved before students can proceed with the collection of information to address the topic. Students whose synopsis is disapproved would have to select another research question, although they would earn their points for submitting their assignment on time. After a proposed question/synopsis has been approved, students may proceed with the research on the topic.
