Emotional intelligence Self Assesment
Instructions: Assess yourself using the following measure. Once you have completed it, calculate
your score and answer the following questions in paragraph form. Please refer to the syllabus or
Bb for formatting requirements (i.e., page limit, font size, margins, reference page, etc.).
Paragraph 1 (7 points)
Define emotional intelligence.
When and why it is useful to have this skill?
Report your score and briefly explain why you agree or disagree with it.
Paragraph 2 (9 points)
Provide 3 examples that clearly demonstrate your ability (or lack of ability) to be emotionally intelligent. Make sure to provide some context for each example. For example, think about the ‘who, what, when, where, how, or why’.
Paragraph 3 (9 points)
Provide 3 examples that clearly explain how you can further develop this skill. Again, be sure to provide some context for each example. For example, think about the ‘who, what, when, where, how, or why’.
You are required to in-text cite in ALL skill reports. These in-text citations and the reference page must adhere to APA 6th edition for formatting. Failing to use this formatting style will result in a loss of points for that report. Additionally, failing to in-text cite
will result in a zero and a formal charge of academic misconduct will be submitted. You must cite whenever you explain, describe, and/or summarize concepts/theories from the book/lecture notes; provide statistics or findings; and whenever information is not common knowledge. A good rule of thumb: If you have to look somewhere for the answer – you should be citing. Give credit to the
source. Even if you are paraphrasing information, you must provide an in-text citation. When in doubt, look on Bb at the handouts pertaining to APA and citing. If you are still confused, talk to me. I am here to help!
