Ethics of local retirement homes

For at least a year, reporters on your paper have heard rumors that one of the local retirement homes is being neglectful and cruel to their elderly residents. Your editor asks you to get a job there as a custodian to see what is really going on. Do you take the job and report on it like your editor wants you to? Do you take the job and immediately call out the staff while on the job? Or, do you refuse to take the job based on ethical reasons? If you are on the job and see neglect or abuse, what do you do?
