Journal analysis
These two-page open-ended papers allow you to take a less structured, thinking-through approach to writing about an assigned reading.
When working on a journal, consider the following:
1) What major questions does this work raise for you? These questions should be inspired by concepts and issues, rather than asking about facts or basic comprehension.
2) Why are these questions important to your understanding of broader topics (or if it helps you explore your ideas, other texts)? We are interested in seeing you explore your own thinking on the issues raised by the reading.
3) Is there a major idea embedded in this text that you continue to grapple with? What and why? Can you show, by thinking through it in your writing, what makes this idea such a complex one?
