Results from NAPLAN assessments are public domain. Some schools are suggesting to parents that they keep their children with disabilities at home while other
students undertake the NAPLAN assessments. The philosophy behind this move is two-fold : it has been suggested that the nature of the assessments make them
irrelevant to some children with disabilities, and, the inclusion of students with disabilities can decrease the school average, which then appears on the
Myschool website.
In your opinion, should students with disabilities complete NAPLAN assessments ? If so, under what conditions is it possible to make this a fair assessment
of knowledge and skills. Justify your opinion.
