Methodology is about how they studied what they studied. You are meant to look at the different methods used (e.g., participant observation, surveys, genealogical methods, etc.). You are meant to explain what they did- for example how long they studied or how many people were surveyed (was it random or focused), give as many details as you can about all of the methods used. Then, go ahead and discuss if you think these methods were appropriate, problematic, effective, and why or why not. So if they used participant observation and only lived in the community for a month, you might highlight the problems of building rapport/ truly understanding a community in a short period of time. Or say they practiced longitudinal research- you could highlight how useful it might be that they returned to live in the community over the course of multiple years.
