Playwriting and Personal Experiences Assignment Guidelines
1. Write a 3-5 page script.
- No more than 3 characters.
- Observe the three unities of Time, Place and Action
- Must be typed and follow the correct playwriting format – the 12-point standard font (see sample).

- Must have page numbers at the bottom center of the page.
- You will be graded on content, originality, the pursuit of three objectives, clarity of dialogue, and format & grammar (texting grammar is not appropriate).
- Establish the Protagonist and where she/he is, then quickly give that person a goal for the play.
- He should have to overcome three minor objectives on his way towards his ultimate objective.
- There should be some sort of twist at the end, which reverses expectations.
- Keep your story simple, and personal experiences make the best material, but be sure to change the names and slightly distance yourself from the story.
