In Isaac Bashevis Singer’s The Certificate, The main character, David Bendinger, is faced with the dilemma of trying to start his life dreaming to become a Journal and magazine writer. Along with his journey, he is troubled by the uncertainty of life that makes him unable to decide which path to choose from. Many people consider his character to be upside down but it may not be that way.
