What values matters to you
Consider your values. What matters to you? What doesn’t? What characteristic do you embody that you value the most? Is it kindness? Determination? Open-mindedness? Choose your most important value and define it. Some questions to help you get at this are: What does it mean? What does it look like in practice? Why is it important? Further, consider this value in a larger social context. What is its role in society? How would the world be different if more people embodied this value?
Try to consider and articulate any negative sides to the value you choose. Is it possible to take this value to the extreme? What would that look like? A successful argument anticipates contestation and pre-emptively addresses it.
