Boomers leaving the workplace

Millions of Boomers are rapidly leaving the workplace, either out of the desire to retire or dissatisfaction on the job. Management is faced with filling the “skills gap.” Gen Y (the Millennial) is becoming the largest segment of the U.S. workforce for the very first time, with 27 percent of Millennials in management positions already. Two key problems have resulted from this age switch. Company executives have concerns that Millennials favor those of their own age and think they know more than older workers. Some say the problem these new managers are having is that they are unprepared for the positions—hired into these roles out of necessity without training on how to be good managers. As a result, companies are losing older workers faster than expected, and new positions are being filled with managers of little or no experience. The CEO asks you, a Millennial manager yourself, to investigate this topic and write a report analyzing your findings and drawing conclusions. Offer your recommendations to a company of your choice.
