Reading a Cine Roman Compare to Watching a Film This book is an example of a rare genre known as the “cine-roman” (French for “cine-novel”).
The idea is to publish a book that will accompany the film whose screenplay it includes, but that will also stand on its own as a work of illustrated literature. What is your response to this experiment as it is manifested in Duras’ book? How does reading a cine-roman compare to watching a film? Can you imagine a cine-roman that only exists for itself, without a corresponding film? I went to see Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters with the Spinebreakers.
