Pediatric case study

Review the Pediatric Case Study and analyze the data to determine the health status of the patient. You will need a minimum of two scholarly references to support your work.

After viewing the patient interactive information, address the following:

  1. What important information is missing from the case study?
  2. Discuss normal developmental achievements and potential vulnerabilities.
  3. What precipitating factors could be contributing to the current symptoms?
  4. What is the differential diagnosis?
  5. Describe the etiology of the primary diagnosis.
  6. How should physiologic complications be monitored and assessed?
  7. What are the usual nonpharmacologic therapies that would help?
  8. What medications could help and why?
  9. Identify safety risks and how they should be dealt with in the treatment plan.

Include current supportive evidence in your responses to the questions above using two required resources from this week’s materials and one new resource. National guidelines should also be considered with treatment pla

Case Study: Staffing and Scheduling

Case Study:
1) You are the nurse manager for your unit. You have called a staff meeting and have encouraged the staff to bring concerns regarding staff satisfaction and care delivery. The focus of this meeting is to consider a new approach of self-scheduling. Before looking at how such an approach could actually be implemented, you want staff to consider the pros and cons of the current approach (managerial driven) versus the pros and cons of handing this over to the staff for self-scheduling. Construct a chart (4 sections: a pro section for each type and a con section for each type) to illustrate and clarify the dilemmas, challenges, benefits, issues, and problems associated with each. Please list at least 5 items in each of the sections. Be sure to look at this from in regards to the staff and the impact on care delivery.
2) Now assume that you and your group have decided to move forward with initiating self-scheduling for your unit on a trial basis. Before initiating this new approach, you will need to write some guidelines for self-scheduling that the staff must all follow. List at least 8 guidelines that all staff will follow.

Content Areas in an Evidence-Based Practice Poster
Content Areas to Include in an Evidence-Based Practice Poster
Background/significance: Provides the nature and/or importance of the clinical problem
Clinical question: States the PICOT question addressed
Search for evidence/accepted practice: Discusses the search parameters and methods and the evidence sources used
Presentation and critical appraisal of the evidence: Provides a succinct summary of the conclusions drawn from evaluating the available evidence
Clinical practice implications: Describes clinical practice implications

Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM)

Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) is often used in order to improve Reliability. Select a well-known company (one of which all your classmates would have heard) that produces a product (not a service). Based on your reading for this week, respond to the following:

*What type(s) of equipment would your company use in producing their product?

*What kinds of malfunctions or breakdowns might occur with the type(s) of equipment that this company uses?

*How could a TPM program be useful in avoiding the kinds of malfunctions or breakdowns that might occur? In other words, what actions can be taken to prevent the malfunctions or breakdowns that might occur?

Reflection: Reimbursement and Quality

Reflection: Reimbursement and Quality
Using the information that you gathered in looking at Hospital Compare, Hospital Cost Compare, and the CMS document covering Value-Based Purchasing provide a written reflection:
• Explaining your findings for your organization (or one in your area that you are able to locate on both resources)
• Can you see a link between the quality/safety information and cost/reimbursement
• Exploring your thoughts on how CMS links quality to payment

Cardiac Impact

Health Interview Survey (NHIS) were findings that 38% of adults use CAM [complementary and alternative medical] health care modalities.

Construct a professional paper that outlines how the use of the following CAM health care modalities impacts the cardiovascular system.
Ginseng
Hawthorn
L-Arginine
St. John’s Wort
For each of the modalities the discussion must include:
effect on the cardiovascular system
anticipated benefits
any identified risks or adverse effects
relative patient education
