International College has to collate and share confidential information with colleagues across
unsecured Networks (such as the Internet); You are tasked to produce a report that contains
between 1500-2000 words, showing the importance of data security, data protection
mechanisms, and the ways to securely share information across a networked environment.

Investigate the firm’s problem(s) as they relate to Information Systems and prepare a written paper for the case.

Each student will review the case description (provided in Canvas) and perform related online research. A case report will be prepared which analyzes the case and addresses specific questions.
General
For the case assignment, you will investigate the firm’s problem(s) as they relate to Information Systems and prepare a written paper for the case. The individual case must be completed by each student and submitted for grade by the due date listed in the course schedule. The individual case assignments are noted on Canvas under Upload Assignments.
The case analysis and discussion need to address the main issues in the case related to information systems. Assume you are a consulting group and are giving advice to the CIO and other senior IS managers and they are the audience for your analysis report. Read the rubric carefully and make sure you understand the requirements for “exemplary performance”.

Sections:
• Executive summary – a couple of short paragraphs which summarize the remainder of the report
• Background – use this section to lead in to your Problem Statement; identify symptoms, critical factors and the current state
• Problem Statement – a succinct statement of the problem/dilemma/issue, preferably in a single declarative sentence; be careful to identify the real problem and not the symptoms of the problem
• Analysis – apply models, course content, and outside research to support your position; logically discuss options, implications and tradeoffs
• Recommendations and Conclusions – these should be your recommendations regarding how the organization should deal with the problem; they should be fully supported by the Analysis section
• Appendices – References and Charts – does not count towards the 5 pages
Citations must be referenced according to APA style.
Appropriate references: This is a library research paper and you must use at least 3 different sources, not including textbooks. These sources should be company websites, industry sources, journal articles, periodicals, such as the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and so on, and governmental sources such as the SEC. Wikipedia and other similar sources are not to be used in this course.

Homeostasis Essay

Homeostasis

*Explain how homeostasis is the maintenance of a dynamic range of environmental qualities rather than holding the internal environment at a set point. What would be wrong with a set point (say for body temperature) rather than a working range of temperatures?

*The endocrine system is closely tied to homeostasis functioning. Give two examples of hormones (including their glands of origin and action) that play major roles in homeostatic processes in the body. What happens if these hormones are disrupted in their actions?

*Also, look at how we adapt to survival in the outside world. Discuss how maintaining homeostasis gives us greater freedom of activity from dependence upon changes in the external environment. What happens during extremes that force our bodies out of homeostatic bounds? Give specific examples.

*Why is the maintenance of homeostasis especially important during development of new humans within the bodies of their mothers? What can go wrong if specific homeostatic functions are disrupted?

Focus groups saturation

The case study in Chapter 6 shows 16 focus groups were conducted for this research question. Do you think that is too many or too few? Why? Discuss the issue of ‘saturation’. When do you think saturation has been met?

Managing a branch closure program

The student will provide either a 2-3 paragraph written response for each question listed after the case study (or similar exercise) or provide a written case study analysis.

Directions – Case Study Guidelines

Drafting the case, think like a practicing manager. As part of your analysis, it is necessary, but not sufficient to answer the following questions in enough depth to show that you have performed more than a superficial reading of the case’s content, and subsequently applied relevant theory.

Introduction
Identify the key problems and issues in the case study. What is the issue being presented or analyzed in the case? Focus on the main issue in the case if more than one topic is presented. Use your judgment to decide on which issue is the one that is potentially most costly to an organization if left unresolved. There are more kinds of costs to be considered than economic costs. Do not neglect them in your analysis. Formulate and include a thesis statement, summarizing the outcome of your analysis in 1–2 sentences.

Background
Set the scene: background information, relevant facts, and the most important issues.
Where did the issue take place? Consider this because you need to consider cultural and environmental considerations that may differ from those of the United States, in your analysis.
When did the issue take place? There may be historic and environmental considerations different from those of the United States, which should be considered in your analysis.
Who was affected by the issues? In other words, who are the stakeholders inside and outside of the organization that needs to be considered when formulating an analysis, and possible response to the situation?

Evaluation
Why did the issue occur? This may involve conjecture on your part. It is all right to speculate; just identify your speculation as such. In an empirical case, causal factors may be identified as such. Outline the various pieces of the case study that you are focusing on. Evaluate these pieces by discussing what is working and what is not working. State why these parts of the case study are or are not working well.
Proposed Solution/Changes
Provide specific and realistic solution(s) or changes needed. Explain why this solution was selected. Support this solution with solid evidence, such as: concepts from class (text readings, discussions, lectures), outside research

Recommendations
How would you, as a manager, apply the insights gained from the case to improve an organization’s operations? Determine and discuss specific strategies for accomplishing the proposed solution. If applicable, recommend further action to resolve some of the issues. What should be done and who should do it?

The current foster care system is not preparing children for an adult life and to become sustainable adults, who are able to live and contribute to the modern society.

The current foster care system is not preparing children for an adult life and to become sustainable adults, who are able to live and contribute to the modern society. As soon as they reach the age of 18 they have no place to live, no hopes for college, or ability to obtain a job or profession, which would allow them to have their own place to live, and the ability to survive in current society. This way these children would never become a productive members of society.
