Write an Op-ed piece.
An op-ed piece is a short essay that states and defends the writer’s opinion on a current issue. These pieces generally appear on the “Opposite the editorial page” (Op-ed), and they focus on the opinion of the writer.
Read one or more articles about a topic of your choice in recent newspapers and write an opinion piece about that topic.
Strong texts will:
Have a clear purpose and make a clear, concise argument
Use specific examples to support an overarching claim
Be appropriately developed for the genre
Be spellchecked and show evidence of careful proofreading
Minimum requirements:
2 pages long, 12 point font, double spaced
Sources are optional, but if used, please cite with proper APA or MLA
format
