Basically show me that you listen to the music actively by describing what you heard to the best of your ability using concepts and vocabulary you have learned from the class. Sometimes when you are stuck it is helpful to describe the music using analogy. For example, “The quick repeated rhythm played by the trumpet section sounded like horses galloping into battle.” This shows me that you know what trumpets sound like, that your recognize tempo and musical repetition, and that most importantly you were engaged enough with the music to imagine horses galloping to the music. I would much rather read something like that than a sentence littered with incorrectly used terms from the book. Also, especially with descriptions of texture (which are tricky for everyone), explain why you picked the texture you did. For me, it is more important for you to have a good solid reason for picking the texture you did than for you to get the texture exactly right all of the time. Especially in longer classical works, the texture changes often, and it is tricky to know how to describe it.

Tesla is an American electric automobile manufacturer and one of the best automobile companies in the world. Tesla is not the only electric automobile manufacturer, they also produce solar roof. Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning and the company was named after Serbian American inventor Nikola Tesla (Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013). Tesla got funding from a lot of different sources, but the main source is from PayPal co-founder Elon Musk. Musk funded $30 million to serve as chairman of the company in 2004. In 2008, Eberhard and Tarpenning announced their leave from the company but Eberhard still holds his share of the company. Musk became a CEO of Tesla after Eberhard and Tarpenning left the company. The series of electric automobile that Tesla was produced are Model S, Model X, Model 3, 2020 Roadster, Tesla Semi, and Model Y.
Tesla first electric car Roadster was released in 2008, the car which grabs the attention of the world. Roadster, the performance of this electric car was comparable to many of gasoline-powered cars in the industry. A single charge of a battery can drive up to 245 miles. Also, the Roadster electric car is very impressive when it comes to acceleration; it can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles in less than 4 seconds. It can also speed up to 125 miles per hour. One special feature about Tesla’s electric motor is that the battery is made up of lithium-ion cells which is the same battery used in the laptop computer. This will allow the electric vehicle to recharge from a standard electric outlet. Tesla stopped releasing its Roadster series in 2012, and the company started to focus on releasing the new model which is the Model S sedan. The performance of the Model S series is better than Roadster’s, it can accelerate from ì0 to 60 miles per hour.

In 2012, Tesla has built stations called Superchargers across the USA and Europe, which allowed Tesla vehicle’s owner to charge the vehicle quickly without any cost. Tesla also produced solar energy products, not just electric vehicles. Tesla bought the solar panel company SolarCity in 2016 (Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013). Tesla revenue $3.36 billion from automotive and $374 million from the energy and storage division. Their revenue of automotive increased by 46.8% compared the past year and energy and battery storage division revenue increased 30.6% compared to last year. (Prenzler, 2018)
Phase 2: Strategic framework
For the first time in company history, back to back quarter (Q3 and Q4) brought in profit for Tesla to end the year of 2018. Tesla and Elon Musk had very high expectations going into 2019, as Elon stated the company will be profitable going forward. However, a few months into 2019, Tesla has had more of the same problems in the past; which is finances. Looking internally at the company will help to get a better understanding of why Tesla is in their current financial position.
Political- As electric vehicles are viewed as the future, national and state governments around the world are pushing towards electric vehicles to be transportation of the future. Due to this Tesla has various federal loan programs in works with them. One of which being the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program provided Tesla $465 million months before the company went public. However, to date Tesla owes roughly a total of $920 Million total in debt in March, which is just a portion of the total debt.
Economic- As of March 2019, Tesla shares have dropped yet again with the clear signs of a slowdown in sales. With continuous delays in the deliveries of the new Model S 3, Tesla continues to lose value. Evidently Tesla share prices have been further reduced by 20%. This means shares dropping from $254 to $210. Tesla also announced that its first quarters estimated delivery numbers also dipped. Initially being 57,000 but ultimately dropping for 52,500. Resistance could see shares shoot back up towards $300. However, if stocks continue to break down Tesla could be looking at share prices as low as $180, dating back from 2016. With continuous delays in the deliveries of the new Model S 3, Tesla continues to lose value.
Social- The trend and popularity of the Tesla brand has become increasingly popular over the last decade. Tesla and society, more specifically younger generations, share much of the same ideology regarding green initiatives and more. Tesla has had an enormous social impact, especially in the auto industry, as some say Tesla has changed it forever. Although this is true, thus far Tesla has not been able to steadily bring in a profit from quarter to quarter, as models are either too expensive for the general public, recalled, or shipment/delivery delays.
Technology- With new technology being introduced yearly Tesla burns through hundreds of millions of dollars in cash purchasing, innovating, and putting new tech into production and development. In February 2019, Tesla agreed to buy battery-technology company Maxwell Technologies for $218 million worth in stocks. This is just one small example of the mass amount of cash Tesla burns through yearly to keep their technology up to date.
Environmental- Arguably their biggest strength; Tesla is highly praised for their green initiative and how eco friendly they are. As the concern for greenhouse gas emissions in automobiles is continuously increasing, Tesla by many, is considered the gateway to future transportations without having to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. However, for Tesla, being environmentally responsible comes with financial challenges. Such as, like previously mentioned, burning through cash to keep up to date on new technology.
Legal- As Tesla’s year of 2018 ended; it brought optimism and hope for the future. Fast-forward a few months into 2019, Elon Musk and Tesla Inc. find themselves into deeper debt and legal problems. Elon Musk mislead the public by stating the company was going private, consequently a $20 million fine was put into place, just adding the financial crisis Tesla has put themselves in. Tesla mostly focuses on its automotive division because that is where they make the most profits. Some advantages with these structures are the ease of using new strategies all around the corporation. Using regional divisions will help Tesla understand financial reports better and make better decisions as the financial reports come in from region to region. This help being competitive with auto makes like BMW, GM, Honda, and Toyota.
A disadvantage of the structure of Tesla is that these three limits the speed of how the company can adjust worldwide. Since every decision is made in California it will take time for overseas divisions to have a decision when a problem has occurred.

For ambitious innovation, Tesla has been established directly after General Motors recalled and removed its electric vehicles in 2003. Finally, Tesla does all its own selling and servicing of their vehicles, allowing them to keep all profits made of sales and repairs. The main disadvantage Tesla is currently facing is the price of the vehicle, many companies offer lower end electric vehicles for a lower price, allowing them to reach a different market than Tesla can reach.

Luckily, for tesla they found solutions to their problems, they sold chunks of their companies to big new investors. After the near-death bankruptcy experience Tesla sold a stake in the company to Daimler. Both companies have since divested, but they made some serious profits on their early votes of confidence as Tesla’s value sky -rocketed.
