My interpretation of the Genesis 1 account

The Genesis chapter 1 account discusses creation as an activity that took place in six days with God resting on the seventh. For one I believe that it is accurate in its representation of how things came into existence through the hand of God, in an orderly manner that works well to this day. The Account in Genesis tells a story of God somehow building the world from the ground-up starting with the building blocks for life both in the context of humans, animals and plant-life. I however feel that the six days that God took to create the world is something that needs not to be taken literally. As complex as man is, it is important to note that God remains the creator and this means that the plane in which God exists is much different from that one where humanity exists. As such it will not make sense to count the days as six days literally. The naming of six days must have been done to express the narrative in a format that humanity will easily fathom. Furthermore if it is to be taken as six literal days, humans should consequently have the power to supernaturally command things into existence and make other humans out of mud then breathe life into them like God did when he was creating Adam. The impossibility of these things in human terms conversely implies that the six literal days is not possible but rather figurative. While scientific approaches to creation tend to appear to be on a collision course with the Biblical account, I believe they have a lot in common and tell the same story but from alternate perspectives. On one hand the creationist perspective tends to be over-simplified by its proponents to the point of almost lowering the power or position of God. On the other hand, scientific approaches such as the Big Bang theory point to an immensely powerful force that suddenly came about leading to a chain of events that brought the world forth. This process is believed to have taken billions of years. I am inclined to believe that the six days God took if taken literally would be in the region of billions of actual days. Last but not least, I believe the inability of both old world theorists and new world theorists to tell the actual age of the world is testament to God’s power (Marvin, 2013).

Old Earth View and the account of Genesis 1: 1-11

I am inclined to believe in the Old Earth school of thought which proposes that the Universe is much older than the estimated 6000 years generally agreed upon in the New Earth theory. The reason for this is the ambiguity of the Bible and also the use of language. The narrative first begins with the existence of God’s spirit moving around a ‘formless and desolate plane.’ This formless and desolate plane cannot be said to be the earth but rather the medium in which the earth would be created in. Conventional wisdom dictates that night and day are caused by the rotation of the earth around the sun with alternating sides being exposed to light while the other side is exposed to darkness. Before this, God created the light, highly likely to have been the sun.  The earth’s creation therefore comes about at the point when there is day and night due to the phenomenon of rotation. My belief in the earth’s being billions of years old is based on the scientific theories that estimate the period of time these things would have taken place from a human point of reference with the units familiar to us. The human system of counting day and night could only have come about on the sixth day, but it should be noted that the first six days take place from the perspective of the creator and humans have not yet occupied the earth. Psalm Chapter 90 verse 4 better explains the fact that God’s system of counting days is much different from the way they are manifested for humanity (Beggren, 2014).

Historicity of Adam and Eve

With respect to the issue of Adam and Eve’s historicity, I tend to rely on Biblical evidence based on the fact that the lineages of various Bible Characters can be traced back to Adam and Eve. If they were mythical individuals used in a representative way, then this means that the names of people on the Biblical lineages are also fictitious and this brings to doubt almost the whole Bible since many of the stories told involve the lives and times of people who descended from Adam.

From a theological perspective it is important to accept Adam and Eve as real people as this validates the entire history of humans and also their relationship with God. While it is important to distinguish between real and figurative references used in the Bible, it is necessary to also take into consideration the implication that each direction has on the larger picture. The fall of man, the Exodus, God’s laws in the Old Testament, the New Testament and God’s salvation plan all have meaning based on the acceptance that Adam and Eve were living, breathing human beings. Given the fact that they had a personal relationship with God which was ruined at the fall of man, their susceptibility to sin and its consequences is a critical element in explaining and understanding this spiritual concept and its specificity to the lives of individuals (Marvin, 2013).

Electrical gadgets for monitoring health are commonly used by many and are assembled by different companies therefore they are already in the market. Special wheelchair or digital wheelchair, most disabled people use wheelchair and they apply force to move, adding or assembling digital start up or button for them to move, it will be very effective and efficient. It means that, the idea is vulnerable since the market has not been fully amortized by these wheelchairs. Special cars and motor bikes/bicycles also are highly demanded in different market segmentation. Due to increased standard of living, many disabled people want to drive and also have an easy and efficient way of alighting the car. Short listed ideas

Digital wheelchair; young population that are disabled and also the aging population that are also disable, may have little force to push the normal wheelchair for them to move. For this reason, proving or coming up with a digital wheelchair, where the disable people have to press to move, it will be efficient and effective for them to loco mote. This idea will ease their work performance, therefore many will demand for them and due to high demand, more will be supplied hence the company market share and competitive position will increase and finally the company will make a lot of profit, (CHOUINARD, HALL, & WILTON, 2010).

Special cars/bikes/ bicycles; many disabled people have different living standard and also the needs differ. For this reason, coming up with special cars, bikes and bicycles that are efficient for them to operate, they will make them feel recognized and well known in the society since they can enjoy same preferences with people with no disability. In return, they will purchase more of the cars, bikes, bicycles so as not to feel inferior and this will be of profit to the company, (KOHLBACHER, & HERSTATT, 2011).

This paper deliberates on the resources available to the population of Prince George County. This is one of the counties of the Maryland state in the USA that borders Washington D.C. The county population estimate by the year 2010 was at 863, 420 people, making it second in terms of population density in the Maryland state (Prince George County, 2015).

Like any other county in the USA, Prince George County has an array of resources that support the people. These resources include,  hospitals, learning institutions, transportation infrastructure,  recreational facilities, highways,  child centers, worshiping places, shopping malls, industries, and companies that offer employment to  the people among many others.

The country has invested in education hence, has established enough learning institutions to provide learning services to its people. In the county, more than 86 percent of the people that are aged above 25 years have attained high school education or high level of education. More than 30 percent of the people above the age of 25 years are graduates holding either a bachelor or professional degree (Prince George County, 2015). This is therefore an indication of the value the country has placed on education. This is therefore, strength because when people are educated, the level of poverty reduces because they can easily gain employment or create new jobs.

The county as well is religious as it has a presence of more than 800 churches. It also has Buddhist and Hindu temples, synagogues, and mosques. These churches cover 14 square kilometers of land. This is a very important resource because it has helped to alleviate the morals of the people. Incidences of crime in the country are low compared to other counties hence, strength.

The county as well, has various organizations and business that contribute to the economic development. Businesses as well provide employment to the population hence, helping improve their living standards. Examples of major employers include organizations such as United Parcel Service, Verizon, Giant, and Marriott International among many others (Prince George County, 2015).

The county is also endowed with superb transportation services. The county has quite a number of major highways that facilitate transportation. The county as well has various bus services and heavy rail passenger service that service booth the county and outside the county. The strength of this resource is that it has also put into consideration people with disabilities such as handicapped. These people have a regional Metro Access para-transit system that caters for the handicapped people in the county.

The country has as well recreation and other youth services that population utilizes. The county has five star hotels and recreational locations that people visit to relax and take some rest from their daily hassles. Tourists’ sites are also available. Tourists use ferries for easier movement (Tuss, 2008). The county has as well various sports grounds that nurture youth’s talents. The county was ranked among the prospective counties in the basketball talent pool.

The county as well has hospitals that offer various health care services to the population. Health is a fundamental human right that people should not be denied. The county has made efforts to ensure that these health facilities are well resources and equipped to provide high quality services. The weaknesses in this sector is laxity and poor provision of child and women centered services in some of the facilities hence, affecting the health outcomes of  some people (Prince George County, 2015).

The county in nutshell has vast resources available to its population. The quality of life of people is good because of these resources. People have an opportunity to pursue their studies because of availability of adequate learning institutions; they have better transport services, health care and recreational services among others.

This training targets fathers and mothers in the community to inform them about health care of infants. The outcomes of the projects will be measured based on the number of infant deaths after training. It is expected that after training, the death rates should go down. If this does not go down, then it means that the training will not have attained the ultimate goal.

The training goals must also be achievable (Day & Tosey, 2011). This project is achievable because there are enough resources to facilitate the training. The training personnel will be recruited from the existing pool of health workers in the county. There is also enough transportation services for these personnels.

The teaching project is also realistic in the sense that it aims at filling a gap that has been researched. Studies have indicated that indeed the level of infant mortality in the county is higher hence, requiring urgent measures (Prince George County, 2015). This training project is therefore, realistic. Various women and men will be taught on infant health care in different centers in the county.

The project is also timely. It comes at the time that the cases of infant mortality are high in the county. This therefore, will make the project success, as it will trigger attention from the target audience. The teaching will take two months to educate the parents in the County.

This teaching plan has also put into consideration the cultural competent care issues of the target population (Lewisson, Hellgren & Johansson, 2013). Cultures do vary and it is important for training or teaching plan and methods to be receptive to the cultures of the people. The people target has more or less the same cultural orientation, and therefore, this teaching plan has factored this. The teachers must use the language that the population understands. They must also respect beliefs, values, and norms of the target population.

Budget is another important issue that this teaching plan has considered. The training will require financial resources to ensure that the goals and objectives set are met. The budget for teaching is estimated at US $ 50,000. This budget will cover for various expenses, including, recruiting trainers, paying the trainers, and operating expenses covering, transportation, food and accommodation of the trainers and other sundry expenses.

The Questions

The historians used a wide array of questions and theses for the purpose of guiding and shaping the research they did. These questions were based on already existent knowledge about the events that took place in the past. For each of the topics discussed in the books, the researchers had to ask questions about how current societies in different parts of the world came to be and how their current state may have been influenced by historical occurrences. The thesis statements that the historians and authors had during their preparation of the different publications highlighted sought to highlight the significance of the historical events being illustrated. In “Isolation” for instance, the historians’ thesis statement was about the significance that the religious affiliation had on the fight for control of Jerusalem (Payne, 39). Questions that were asked sought to establish a link between apparently separate historical issues. In “Frontiers of Motion 1,” the historians want to establish if Islamic science of the time had a profound impact on Europe’s Renaissance.

Sources

To answer the questions and investigate the theses that had been forwarded, the historians relied on both primary and secondary sources of data. Most of the historical events highlighted in the publications have been researched over and over again in different contexts such as anthropology, religion, culture, geography, archeology and also political history. The sources of information that the historians used were the typical ones, the only difference being that they did their investigations in a novel way based on the titles that they were operating under. This narrowed down the material they highlighted during authoring to information relevant to the title and possible hypotheses they had developed (Saliba, 178). The use of primary sources is mostly based on government documents that were published during the periods when the historical events in question took place. These sources were the best and it was only practical to use them. Looking for fresh primary information for events that took place is tantamount to reinventing the wheel given that other respected historians had gathered the same.

The Answers

The answers the historians gave to the questions are quite satisfactory since they maintain the theme and provide solutions to the titles they were operating under. As a reader, I have to admit that my knowledge on the topics discussed was expanded in line with the direction taken by the respective historians. Their narrowing down of the topics from broad areas that I had general knowledge about brought my attention to specific elements and I got to see them from a different perspective. From “Frontiers of Motion 2” I got to empathize with the victims of the invasion and also better understand the motives that the Mongols had in as far as territorial expansion was concerned (Gernet, 19). It was a strategy that had proven effective and there was no need to attempt another method. With respect to the answering of questions posed, I believe that all the historians did an excellent job. My understanding of the dynamics that directly impacted world civilization is deeper based on the arguments I was exposed to.

Group leadership is another common role performed by both the parish and public community nurses. There are also emerging differences in the roles performed by the two type of nurse. However, the differences are not very substantive. The main difference between the two types of nurses is that parish nurses provide care to people in their religious community.

While the community health nurses aim at the provision of care and services to the entire community, the parish nurse only focuses on the church population (Kosevich et al, 2014). The public community health nurses provide invasive screening procedures while hands-on care and services by parish nurses are non-invasive services. The parish nurses are focused on health promotion and outreach during their time in service without much emphasis on implementation and utilization of services. Contrary to that, the community health nurses spend most of their time in ensuring evaluation of services and also their utilization (Driscoll et al, 2015). The parish nurses have their roles conscious of partnering the health issues with the individuals or family’s faith. The public health community is focused on the general health of individuals with no faith consideration at any one time. Standards of practice in other nurses are also intended to be used by the parish nurses. The difference in functions and standard of practice arise due to specialization factors. Collaboration, communication and advocacy of ethics is another standard common in both the parish and public nursing. The standard for facilitation of spiritual care stands out among the parish nurses. The main function of parish nurses is the integration of faith in health activities. The main function of the regular nurses is the provision of assurances, the assessments and also policy development in the health sector (Drsicoll et al, 2015). The main functions in each show the differences between parish nurses from other regular practice nurses. The only major reason that makes the parish nurses differ from those in the regular practice is because they are practices are religious oriented.

In a nutshell, the assessment of the function, roles, and standards in the two type of nursing reveals that there are more similarities than differences in both. It also encompasses any changes in the investment as mentioned earlier. Wesfarmers Limited present their property plant and equipment information in a consolidated balance sheet included in the annual report.

According to the 2015 annual report, the Wesfarmers property is worth $2,495 million. Plant and equipment are valued at $ 7730 Million. The company also disclosed the capital expenditure that amounted to $2,243. The extent at which Wesfarmers satisfies the fundamental qualitative characteristics

The main fundamental qualitative characteristics of financial information are relevance and faithful representation. Wesfarmers presents its financial information in the form of the annual report every year.

Wesfarmers Limited ensures that the information in the annual report can make a difference in the decision made by the users. The company provides its financial information in the form of four important documents. That is Result Shareholders quick guides, full year announcement, result presentation and supplementary information (Wesfarmers, 2015).

The company ensures that the information published in the annual report is relevant to all the users of financial information. The company provides the key financial metrics relevant for the users when making decisions regarding their investment. To ensure relevance, the company also makes sure that the financial information provided has both predictive and confirmatory value.

Faithfull representation is also an element that is considered by Wesfarmers when providing financial information. The company ensures that their financial information is reliable and that it faithfully represents the economic phenomena fully. The first article that I chose focuses on the process an organization goes through when creating and delivering their mission statement. The data is comprised of a qualitative method in which the author speaks to the the contextual details that motivate teams and thus guides decision making efforts (Mission Statements, 2013). The data and information that is uncovered is distributed to appropriate team members through manuscripts and theoretical discussions and interactions. I found the article to be very general and broad in scope. I would have benefited from additional tips and discussion around the factors that go into a successful mission statement fact finding and execution effort.

The second article that I chose takes a central stance on a quantitative approach to gathering data and interpreting that data in an operational context. Fanny and Tonny Irianto (2015) point out that the Finance industry is a knowledge intensive industry, that is often faced with the difficulty of limited source of suitable talent within their businesses. Therefore, the author focuses on the importance of efficiently and effectively managing the existing talent within an organization. The information is gathered in a user friendly format that serves as a resource. Through acknowledging and communicating the similarities between existing and current research comparisons the author’s are able to build credibility.

In the following two articles, researchers explored how product recall marked Toyota’s reputation in the market and the media. The study is a brief analysis using qualitative and quantitative research to explore Toyota’s outcome.

Article 1: What really happen to Toyota? A quantitative study
Toyota’s quality image among consumers suffered with the recalls. The decline is visible in survey data, and social media. Consumer Reports Auto Test Center, said that the quality of Toyota vehicles has measurably decreased in recent years. In 2007, the magazine observed that the fit and finish of some Toyota models, as well as overall vehicle quality, had declined. In 2008, Consumer Reports decided to stop giving automatic recommended ratings to all Toyota models. This decline in the quality of Toyota vehicles was also noted by J.D. Power and Associates. An initial Quality Study was conducted that surveyed car owners and lessees 90 days after purchase, which entailed 160 detailed questions (Cole, 2011).

As a result, there appeared to be two root causes for Toyota’s quality problems. The first is an outgrowth of management’s ambitions for rapid growth. The second is the result of the increasing complexity of the company’s products. Toyota’s drive for growth moved into high gear in 1995 with the appointment of Hiroshi Okuda as the company’s new president (Cole, 2011). Toyota’s new President was the architect of an ambitious global growth strategy, known as the “2005 vision.” His goal was to increase Toyota’s global market share from 7.3% in 1995 to 10% over the next decade. The company achieved a global market share of 9.7% in 1998 and then set a new target of 15% by 2010. In 2008, Toyota was on its way to achieving that goal reaching a global market of 13% until the Toyota product recalls threw the effort into disarray.

Article 2: Toyota steers clear of reputation damage. A qualitative study
During a product-harm crisis, firms can either rely on media reports or systematically measure customer perceptions through qualitative means. According to a recent study using face-to-face interviews, and documents, it was found that Toyota owners believe that the firm handled their recent vehicle recalls appropriately. The recalls involve safety problems with brake pedals in many of Toyota’s most popular models including the Camry, Corolla, Prius, Avalon and Tundra. Mittal, Sambandam and Dholakia (2010) found that a recent Toyota recall case showed that despite negative media portrayals, Toyota owners are insulated from the crisis. Even with the announcement of three major recalls covering a total of 8 million vehicles globally since October 2009, Toyota owners are highly satisfied and loyal to their brand.
Unfortunately, the business media has painted a pessimistic outlook for the Toyota brand. The qualitative central questions at this point are: To what extent is this qualitative assessment by the media credible? Is the Toyota brand irreparably harmed by this product crisis? What do Toyota’s customers think of the brand? Mittal et al. (2010) found that a product-harm crisis occurs when there is systematic perception among key constituents such as customers and regulators that product malfunction has potentially harmed some of the customers of a brand. Mittal et al. (2010) found that when confronted with a product-harm crisis, a firm can use marketing research to comparatively evaluate its brand. This enables the firm to quantify the current perceptions of its customer base relative to those of customers owning competitor brands. Rather than relying on qualitative media reports, a comparative assessment using a survey-based approach can provide metrics of perceptions, attitudes and intentions of the customer base.

I tend to agree with the author that in any business, it is prudent to ensure that teams are strong because they determine either the success or failure of the business.  Formulation of mission statements of organizations is important and requires participation of the stakeholders. Caution is however, required to avoid unnecessary descriptions. In organizations that provide financial services, it is prudent that they have initiatives that will enable them to nurture and manage existing talent to add value to their services (Fanny & Tonny Irianto, 2015). Both qualitative and quantitative research study should help researchers meet their objectives.  The fact that the author, put to consideration the existing and current research concerning the topic, this enhanced the level of credibility. However, it is very important for the sources of information to be recent and authoritative for them to be incorporated in any study. Therefore, I find the articles reliable and suitable for any person since they demonstrate intensive research.

Post two is about the impact of recall of Toyota on its reputation. These two studies both qualitative and quantitative are important in giving more insights about the impact of the product recall. These researches are systematic and provide insights on the same. The articles are clear and demonstrate evidence of in depth research. The quantitative study has incorporated various studies and institutions comments on the Toyota recall. These findings provide a platform to understand the issues better. Similarly, the qualitative study has incorporated views from customers on the recall, providing an insight on the same. Therefore, I do affirm these two studies. They are all important as they provide various information concerning the issue at hand helping readers to have various perspectives. I particularly agree with Mittal et al (2010) that when facing a product harm crisis, entities should use marketing research to compare and evaluate their brand, the firm is able to quantify the customer perceptions to guide on the suitable strategy to employ. Using multiple approaches can as well help to find out about the attitudes, perceptions, and intentions of the customers.

According to CIPD (2014), the concept of a flexible firm focuses on classifying staff as peripheral or core employees. These employees could provide the firm with flexibility in terms of finances, function and numbers. Core employees should be those considered as important functionally. These are the employees with multiple skills in an organization. Peripheral employees are the workers who are availed only when required. They provide numbers and additional skills to the core employees. They are usually in short-term basis or on contracts. Others may be outsourced when necessary. The human resource could, in this way, become very productive and functional when they organize their workforce to be efficient on costs and skills. However, this concept has some challenges. The peripheral employees who work at odd hours and on temporary basis face job dissatisfaction. This phenomenon of irregular and unpredictable availability of work has severe consequences on the organizations’ structure in both a domestic and social setting. These employees do not choose the working environment but rather accept as a way to get a more stable employment plan. To increase productivity, it has become increasingly important to retain core employees rather than increase their turnover. Airlines make decisions to invest in improving the talents of both their ground and above ground employees. The ground members of staff, with rare and excellent talents, are given priorities in all matters. There is a growing effort to retain these employees as they have the required skills that cannot be easily replaced. A majority of employees working in airlines expect their employer to develop their talents and skills to some level. They also expect to replace their seniors who leave the airline as they believe they have the required skills and talents to take over (Caplan, 2011).

Employee engagement is a concept that employers have adopted to tap more than the physical presence of their employees (Valentin, 2014). This move is necessarily so when employees who offer more numerical and planning for the organization. In an airline, this employment strategy has gained more profits and higher productivity. If airline employees are physically present in a positive manner, they will contribute on intellectual matters concerning the airline. They also connect with their colleagues and have positive emotions. Employee engagement is in three ways where the intellectual engagement involves hard positive thoughts on their work and how to perform tasks better. Effective engagement involves feeling good when performing the required work tasks while social engagement involves being actively involved in discussions that are related to the work the employee does. Airline employees with these different engagements are more productive and are satisfied with their jobs (Valentin, 2014).

In conclusion, it is important for most organizations to embrace these emerging trends in their human resource departments. Whenever an airline company develops such strategies, in talent management, employee engagement and flexibility of their recruitment strategy, their employees are more motivated and thus become more productive.
