Read the following case scenario

Micro Bike is a motor scooter/bike company based in Buckhead, Georgia. The company makes foldable “green” motor scooters for inner-city use. Although sales have been rising in the United States, the market size and population density are significantly lower than what exists in Asia. Mark and Jessica Lapin are the owners of Micro Bike.

The Lapins has been studying growth trends for the industry because of increased online orders. Currently, the business has gross sales of $3.2 million; 2017 projected sales of $4.9 million. The owners believe actual sales may exceed projected sales as online orders have doubled in the past three months. Forty-five percent of Micro Bike’s sales are comprised of e-commerce sales. E-commerce sales continue to grow.

Three major countries (Japan, India, and Vietnam) within the Asian market show huge potential for the company. Most orders are coming from Ho Chi Minh, Mumbai, and Tokyo. The couple is considering going international while the market is still open to newcomers by opening an owner operated local dealership. Are these cities the best place to go? There is so much to consider. The Lapins need more information to make the decision.

Development of Knowledge on International Business Instructions

Step One: Research

In this project, you will help Micro Bike research the idea of going global and then write a report that will be addressed to Mark and Jessica Lapin. To write the report, you will research the mobility scooter industry in the context of the elements below that will be discussed in the report.

The advantages and disadvantages of going international;
How globalization will affect Micro Bike’s success;
Major challenges in global trade;
Select two of the modern theories of international trade discussed in the class and found in the course material and apply each theory to Micro Bike. Explain how each theory aides a company in making the decision to go international and specifically aides in Micro Bikes’ decision to go global.

After completing this part of the research, you are now ready to make a recommendation to Mark and Jessica Lapin.

Write a recommendation that answers the question “Should Micro Bike Go International: Why or Why Not?”

Step Two: Which Country

Assume the answer is yes

Select the best country to go international and explain in detail the reasoning behind your recommendation. Support the conclusions with research and class materials;
Explain why other countries were not selected;
Country attractiveness: which city and country are most attractive for a Motor Bike?
What trade agreements, if any would apply to do business in Mumbai, Ho Chi Minh, and Tokyo?
Do any of the trade agreements work better for US investors than others? If so, which one, and how is the trade agreement better. If not, why not?
Identify at least: two political, two economic, and two cultural factors for each country that are particularly important to the Lapin’s decision. Explain how each factor could influence the success of Micro Ride abroad.

Below are resources that will assist you in the research.

The Rise of China Essay Paper Assignment

The Rise of China
                 The Rise of China

The Rise of China has been a hotly debated topic in the last few years. This debate has also permeated the field of International Relations. However, there is no consensus in International Relations Theory regarding the nature of China’s rise. Given this predicament, discuss in detail how Realists vis-à-vis pessimists (such as Mearsheimer) and Liberals vis-à-vis optimists (such as Ikenberry) have presented their arguments regarding the rising of China in the international system. Which camp are you convinced by and why? How would Constructivists, proponents of the English School and Postcolonial scholars tackle the question of the rise of China? Extrapolate.

Critical evaluation requires you to take a balanced view of what is good in Wal-Marts’ approach and also what does not work so well and could be improved. The interest in global purchasing has increased significantly in recent years, but the impact on product innovation is not well understood.

Hope you can add on two more pages to my original paper from last time to make it better. TOKYO—— With the consumption tax set to rise next April, the prospect of default on Japan’s huge national debt, and the still-unresolved issue of radiation emanating from Fukushima, maybe it’s time to get out of Japan.

Interactions Between Home and International Students
Interactions Between Home and International Students

Guiding Questions Week 8 1. Among the three pieces of readings, what appears to be common good practices of universities adapting to international students?
2. In Schools Must Help International Students Adjust by Marina Lee, she argued that “In all of these interactions, the key is not to force a behavioral
change for either party, but instead to explain and embrace the cultural differences. International students are diplomats and must be received as such. The challenge as educators is to both show acceptance for other cultures and values yet share the ‘American’ perspective that the students have come to learn”.

Interactions Between Home and International Students

Betty Leask argues in her piece ‘Using Formal and Informal Curricula to Improve Interactions Between Home and International Students’ in a slightly different tone, “however, the dominance of the view that it is the international student who must make the adjustment is evident in the practice in universities around the world who host international students employing international student counselors (using a medical/mental health model) whose role it is to assist students from other cultures to adapt to the local culture. We need to move away from deficit models of engagement, which position international students as interculturally deficient and home students as interculturally efficient, when in reality both need support and encouragement and both have skills and knowledge relevant to the task”. Are there ways and how do you reconcile the two views? 3. In ‘Colleges Large and Small Help International Students Adjust to American Life’ by Amanda L. Smith, she seems to suggest the locale of a college/university shapes how domestic and international students interact to a
degree.

Interactions Between Home and International Students

How does IU’s specificity of locale shape interactions between East Asian international students and domestic students? 4. The three pieces all suggest to a varied level of explicitness that universities need to take a systemic approach to cope with the influx of international students, what are the similarities/differences in how the three define and use ‘systematic’?
