Thank you, please make sure you understand the material. On October 2016, Star World Philippines brought together some of the country’s biggest celebrities, along with members of the press and industry partners for a night of big revelations.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions The third and last duty of the sovereign or commonwealth, is that of erecting and maintaining those public institutions and those public works, which though they may be in the highest degree advantageous to a great society, are, however, of such a nature, that the profit could never repay the expense to any individual, or small number of individuals; and which it, therefore, cannot be expected that any individual, or small number of individuals, should erect or maintain.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions
The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

The performance of this duty requires, too, very different degrees of expense in the different periods of society.

After the public institutions and public works necessary for the defense of the society, and for the administration of justice, both of which have already been mentioned, the other works and institutions of this kind are chiefly for facilitating the commerce of the society, and those for promoting the instruction of the people.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

The institutions for instruction are of two kinds: those for the education of the youth, and those for the instruction of people of all ages. The consideration of the manner in which the expense of those different sorts of public works and institutions may be most properly defrayed will divide this third part of the present chapter into three different articles.

ART. II. Of the Expense of the Institution for the Education of Youth.

Ought the public, therefore, to give no attention, it may be asked, to the education of the people?

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

Or, if it ought to give any, what are the different parts of education which it ought to attend to in the different orders of the people? and in what manner ought it to attend to them?

In some cases, the state of society necessarily places the greater part of individuals in such situations as naturally form in them, without any attention of government, almost all the abilities and virtues which that state requires, or perhaps can admit of. In other cases, the state of the society does not place the greater part of individuals in such situations; and some attention of government is necessary, in order to prevent the almost entire corruption and degeneracy of the great body of the people.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

In the progress of the division of labor, the employment of the far greater part of those who live by labor, that is, of the great body of the people, comes to be confined to a few very simple operations; frequently to one or two. But the understandings of the greater part of men are necessarily formed by their ordinary employments. The man whose whole life is spent in performing a few simple operations, of which the effects, too, are perhaps always the same, or very nearly the same, has no occasion to exert his understanding or to exercise his invention, in finding out expedients for removing difficulties which never occur. He naturally loses, therefore, the habit of such exertion, and generally becomes as stupid and ignorant as it is possible for a human creature to become. The torpor of his mind renders him not only incapable of relishing or bearing a part in any rational conversation, but of conceiving any generous, noble, or tender sentiment, and consequently of forming any just judgment concerning many even of the ordinary duties of private life.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

Of the great and extensive interests of his country, he is altogether incapable of judging; and unless very particular pains have been taken to render him otherwise, he is equally incapable of defending his country in war. The uniformity of his stationary life naturally corrupts the courage of his mind, and makes him regard, with abhorrence, the irregular, uncertain, and adventurous life of a soldier. It corrupts even the activity of his body and renders him incapable of exerting his strength with vigour and perseverance in any other employment than that to which he has been bred. His dexterity at his own particular trade seems, in this manner, to be acquired at the expense of his intellectual, social, and martial virtues. But in every improved and civilized society, this is the state into which the labouring poor, that is, the great the body of the people, must necessarily fall, unless the overnment takes some pains to prevent it.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

It is otherwise in the barbarous societies, as they are commonly called, of hunters, of shepherds, and even of husbandmen in that rude state of husbandry which precedes the improvement of manufactures, and the extension of foreign commerce. In such societies, the varied occupations of every man oblige every man to exert his capacity, and to invent expedients for removing difficulties which are continually occurring. Invention is kept alive, and the mind is not suffered to fall into that drowsy stupidity, which, in a civilized society, seems to benumb the understanding of almost all the inferior ranks of people. In those barbarous societies, as they are called, every man, it has already been observed, is a warrior. Every man, too, is in some measure a statesman, and can form a tolerable judgment concerning the interest of the society, and the conduct of those who govern it. How far their chiefs are good judges in peace, or good leaders in war, is obvious to the observation of almost every single man among them. In such a society, indeed, no man can well acquire that improved and refined understanding which a few men sometimes possess in a more civilized state. Though in a rude society there is a good deal of variety in the occupations of every individual, there is not a great deal in those of the whole society.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

Every man does, or is capable of doing, almost every thing which any other man does, or is capable of being. Every man has a considerable degree of knowledge, ingenuity, and invention but scarce any man has a great degree. The degree, however, which is commonly possessed, is generally sufficient for conducting the whole simple business of the society. In a civilized state, on the contrary, though there is little variety in the occupations of the greater part of individuals, there is an almost infinite variety in those of the whole society. These varied occupations present an almost infinite variety of objects to the contemplation of those few, who, being attached to no particular occupation themselves, have leisure and inclination to examine the occupations of other people. The contemplation of so great a variety of objects necessarily exercises their minds in endless comparisons and combinations, and renders their understandings, in an extraordinary degree, both acute anti comprehensive. Unless those few, however, happen to be placed in some very particular situations, their great abilities, though honourable to themselves, may contribute very little to the good government or happiness of their society. Notwithstanding the great abilities of those few, all the nobler parts of the human character may be, in a great measure, obliterated and extinguished in the great body of the people.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

The education of the common people requires, perhaps, in a civilized and commercial society,

the attention of the public, more than that of people of some rank and fortune. People of some

rank and fortune are generally eighteen or nineteen years of age before they enter upon that

particular business, profession, or trade, by which they propose to distinguish themselves in the

world. They have, before that, full time to acquire, or at least to fit themselves for afterwards

acquiring, every accomplishment which can recommend them to the public esteem, or render

them worthy of it. Their parents or guardians are generally sufficiently anxious that they should

be so accomplished, and are in most cases, willing enough to lay out the expense which is

necessary for that purpose. If they are not always properly educated, it is seldom from the want

of expense laid out upon their education, but from the improper application of that expense. It is

seldom from the want of masters, but from the negligence and incapacity of the masters who are

to be had, and from the difficulty, or rather from the impossibility, which there is, in the present

state of things, of finding any better. The employments, too, in which people of some rank or

fortune spend the greater part of their lives, are not, like those of the common people, simple and

uniform. They are almost all of them extremely complicated, and such as exercise the head more

than the hands. The understandings of those who are engaged in such employments, can seldom

grow torpid for want of exercise. The employments of people of some rank and fortune, besides,

are seldom such as harass them from morning to night. They generally have a good deal of

leisure, during which they may perfect themselves in every branch, either of useful or ornamental

knowledge, of which they may have laid the foundation, or for which they may have acquired

some taste in the earlier part of life.

The Expense of Public Works and Public Institutions

It is otherwise with the common people. They have little time to spare for education. Their

parents can scarce afford to maintain them, even in infancy. As soon as they are able to work,

they must apply to some trade, by which they can earn their subsistence. That trade, too, is

generally so simple and uniform, as to give little exercise to the understanding; while, at the

same time, their labour is both so constant and so severe, that it leaves them little leisure and less

inclination to apply to, or even to think of any thing else.

But though the common people cannot, in any civilized society, be so well instructed as people

of some rank and fortune; the most essential parts of education, however, to read, write, and

account, can be acquired at so early a period of life, that the greater part, even of those who are

to be bred to the lowest occupations, have time to acquire them before they can be employed in

those occupations. For a very small expense, the public can facilitate, can encourage and can

even impose upon almost the whole body of the people, the necessity of acquiring those most

essential parts of education.

The public can facilitate this acquisition, by establishing in every parish or district a little school,

where children maybe taught for a reward so moderate, that even a common labourer may afford

it; the master being partly, but not wholly, paid by the public; because, if he was wholly, or even

principally, paid by it, he would soon learn to neglect his business. In Scotland, the establishment

of such parish schools has taught almost the whole common people to read, and a very great

proportion of them to write and account. In England, the establishment of charity schools has had

an effect of the same kind, though not so universally, because the establishment is not so

universal. If, in those little schools, the books by which the children are taught to read, were a

little more instructive than they commonly are; and if, instead of a little smattering in Latin,

which the children of the common people are sometimes taught there, and which can scarce ever

be of any use to them, they were instructed in the elementary parts of geometry and mechanics;

the literary education of this rank of people would, perhaps, be as complete as can be. There is

scarce a common trade, which does not afford some opportunities of applying to it the principles

of geometry and mechanics, and which would not, therefore, gradually exercise and improve the

common people in those principles, the necessary introduction to the most sublime, as well as to

the most useful sciences.

Recovery Efforts at Emergency Operations Centers

Recovery Efforts at Emergency Operations Centers

Assignment: Emergency Operations Centers

Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) facilitate the execution of disaster response and recovery efforts in that they house the personnel, equipment, and resources used during the operations.

Recovery Efforts at Emergency Operations Centers
Recovery Efforts at Emergency Operations Centers

Certain disasters emerge rather spontaneously while others take a while to develop. As such, installing anda opening up an EOC varies from disaster event to disaster event. Nevertheless, the function and structure of an EOC is vastly critical to the disaster response and recovery effort.

Recovery Efforts at Emergency Operations Centers The Assignment (2ñ4 pages)

For this Assignment, consider the relationship between the EOC and Incident Command System (ICS) structures. Then examine the multiagency coordination systems within and outside the EOC. Finally, using the natural disaster and the community that you selected (The pass of Hurricane Maria in the Rio Grande, P.R) for your Final Project, submit a paper on the following:

Describe the EOC that will be used to respond to the event.

Explain whether the EOC will be a full-time, dedicated facility or a designated building that will be converted to an EOC should a crisis occur.

Describe the physical configuration of the EOC.

Describe any alternative operating facilities that have been identified.

Explain the relationship between the EOC and the ICS structures as it relates to coordination of activities.

Explain how multiple agencies involved in this disaster might coordinate their efforts.

This Assignment will not be graded at this time. You submit this Assignment to your Instructor for feedback. You are encouraged to integrate the feedback into your Final Project. The Final Project will receive a grade.

Introduction

Tesla is an American electric automobile manufacturer and one of the best automobile companies in the world. Tesla is not the only electric automobile manufacturer, they also produce solar roof. Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning and the company was named after Serbian American inventor Nikola Tesla (Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013). Tesla got funding from a lot of different sources, but the main source is from PayPal co-founder Elon Musk. Musk funded $30 million to serve as chairman of the company in 2004. In 2008, Eberhard and Tarpenning announced their leave from the company but Eberhard still holds his share of the company. Musk became a CEO of Tesla after Eberhard and Tarpenning left the company. The series of electric automobile that Tesla was produced are Model S, Model X, Model 3, 2020 Roadster, Tesla Semi, and Model Y.

History

Tesla first electric car Roadster was released in 2008, the car which grabs the attention of the world. Roadster, the performance of this electric car was comparable to many of gasoline-powered cars in the industry. A single charge of a battery can drive up to 245 miles. Also, the Roadster electric car is very impressive when it comes to acceleration; it can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles in less than 4 seconds. It can also speed up to 125 miles per hour. One special feature about Tesla’s electric motor is that the battery is made up of lithium-ion cells which is the same battery used in the laptop computer. This will allow the electric vehicle to recharge from a standard electric outlet. Tesla stopped releasing its Roadster series in 2012, and the company started to focus on releasing the new model which is the Model S sedan. The performance of the Model S series is better than Roadster’s, it can accelerate from ì0 to 60 miles per hour.

(Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013) and can speed up to 130 miles per hour. Model S vehicle carries the battery underneath the floor, which gave extra storage space in the front (Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013). In 2014, Tesla came out with a new Model S version which has a new feature called Autopilot. In 2015, Tesla has produced the Model X which can drive up to 295 miles and it is a seven-seater vehicle. TESLA INC 5 In 2017, Tesla has released an inexpensive vehicle named Model 3 which starts from $35,000. It has four doors and can drive up to 220 miles. In 2012, Tesla has built stations called Superchargers across the USA and Europe, which allowed Tesla vehicle’s owner to charge the vehicle quickly without any cost. Tesla also produced solar energy products, not just electric vehicles. Tesla bought the solar panel company SolarCity in 2016 (Schreiber and Gregersen, 2013). Tesla revenue $3.36 billion from automotive and $374 million from the energy and storage division. Their revenue of automotive increased by 46.8% compared the past year and energy and battery storage division revenue increased 30.6% compared to last year. (Prenzler, 2018)

Phase 2: Strategic framework

For the first time in company history, back to back quarter (Q3 and Q4) brought in profit for Tesla to end the year of 2018. Tesla and Elon Musk had very high expectations going into 2019, as Elon stated the company will be profitable going forward. However, a few months into 2019, Tesla has had more of the same problems in the past; which is finances. Looking internally at the company will help to get a better understanding of why Tesla is in their current financial position.

PESTLE

Political- As electric vehicles are viewed as the future, national and state governments around the world are pushing towards electric vehicles to be transportation of the future. Due to this Tesla has various federal loan programs in works with them. One of which being the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program provided Tesla $465 million months before the company went public. However, to date Tesla owes roughly a total of $920 Million total in debt in March, which is just a portion of the total debt.

Economic- As of March 2019, Tesla shares have dropped yet again with the clear signs of a slowdown in sales. With continuous delays in the deliveries of the new Model S 3, Tesla continues to lose value. Evidently Tesla share prices have been further reduced by 20%. This means shares dropping from $254 to $210. Tesla also announced that its first quarters estimated delivery numbers also dipped. Initially being 57,000 but ultimately dropping for 52,500.  Resistance could see shares shoot back up towards $300. However, if stocks continue to break down Tesla could be looking at share prices as low as $180, dating back from 2016. With continuous delays in the deliveries of the new Model S 3, Tesla continues to lose value.

Social- The trend and popularity of the Tesla brand has become increasingly popular over the last decade. Tesla and society, more specifically younger generations, share much of the same ideology regarding green initiatives and more. Tesla has had an enormous social impact, especially in the auto industry, as some say Tesla has changed it forever. Although this is true, thus far Tesla has not been able to steadily bring in a profit from quarter to quarter, as models are either too expensive for the general public, recalled, or shipment/delivery delays.

Technology- With new technology being introduced yearly Tesla burns through hundreds of millions of dollars in cash purchasing, innovating, and putting new tech into production and development. In February 2019, Tesla agreed to buy battery-technology company Maxwell Technologies for $218 million worth in stocks. This is just one small example of the mass amount of cash Tesla burns through yearly to keep their technology up to date.

Environmental- Arguably their biggest strength; Tesla is highly praised for their green initiative and how eco friendly they are. As the concern for greenhouse gas emissions in automobiles is continuously increasing, Tesla by many, is considered the gateway to future transportations without having to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. However, for Tesla, being environmentally responsible comes with financial challenges. Such as, like previously mentioned, burning through cash to keep up to date on new technology.

Legal- As Tesla’s year of 2018 ended; it brought optimism and hope for the future. Fast-forward a few months into 2019, Elon Musk and Tesla Inc. find themselves into deeper debt and legal problems. Elon Musk mislead the public by stating the company was going private, consequently a $20 million fine was put into place, just adding the financial crisis Tesla has put themselves in. Along with the endless amount of VP’s, engineers, and executives that have left the company

Structural Design

The structural design has a U-form organizational structure. They are split into three main characteristics. They are Function-based hierarchy, centralization, and divisions. The most important characteristic is the function based hierarchy. Tesla follows a typical corporate structure like many other large corporations. The structure goes as follows

  1. Chairman and CEO
  2. Finance

Tesla also uses centralization.  The importance of centralization is to manage and control the entire company. This means that a team at the central of the company make almost all the decisions and control all operations. This means that most of the overseas operations are made at their headquarters in California.

Tesla is a big company so they also use the divisions tactic. Tesla’s main divisions are Automotive, Energy generation and storage. Tesla mostly focuses on its automotive division because that is where they make the most profits. These divisions are used to find different marketing campaigns and strategies and to report with financial records.

Some advantages with these structures are the ease of using new strategies all around the corporation. Using regional divisions will help Tesla understand financial reports better and make better decisions as the financial reports come in from region to region. This help being competitive with auto makes like BMW, GM, Honda, and Toyota.

A disadvantage of the structure of Tesla is that these three limits the speed of how the company can adjust worldwide. Since every decision is made in California it will take time for overseas divisions to have a decision when a problem has occurred.

Cultural Design

Tesla has three key aspects of its culture design. They are Ambitious innovation, Adherence to ëFirst Principlesí, and Lack of bureaucracy.  For ambitious innovation, Tesla has been established directly after General Motors recalled and removed its electric vehicles in 2003. Beginning a business where auto giants like, GM has failed is a reasonable sign of ambition of organizers including Elon Musk.

Tesla also uses Adherence to the First Principles method.  Elon Musk demands that workers utilize First Principles technique, It has been noticed that “first standards thinking expects you to dig deeper and deeper until you are left with the truth of the situation.”. procedure and product innovations at Tesla can be credited to the use of first standards to a huge degree.

The last thing Tesla uses in lack of bureaucracy.  An email from CEO Elon Musk sent to his employees a couple of years ago focused on that “anyone at Tesla can and should email/talks to anyone else according to what they think is the fastest way to solve a problem for the benefit of the whole company. You can talk to your manager’s manager without his permission, you can talk directly to a VP in another dept, you can talk to me, you can talk to anyone without anyone else’s permission.”

Strategic Analysis

The Threat from New Entrants

The risk from new contestants is exceptionally high. Entering the electric car industry in 2003, Tesla itself confronted the difficulties of being the new participant in the market having various money related problems that required high capital risk, assembling the brand and distribution channels.

The Bargaining Power of Buyers

Based on Tesla’s Annual Report, they depend on their association with Daimler and Toyota. These organizations are very important for Tesla since providing these organizations establishes the high offer of their benefit and in this manner, they can’t lose them, making their power extensively high.

Threat of Substitution

The risk of substitutes is significantly low in the car industry because there are just a couple of decisions in the substitution of a vehicle. One of the substitutes can be biking or walking but that is no good for long distances.

The Intensity of Rivalry in the Industry

The rivalry in the entire car industry is intense. Nonetheless, inside electrical vehicles, the competition is low due to only 18 cars in the fully electric segment. However, this market is expanding quickly, with organizations like BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen has entered this segment as well.

With every one of the qualities and qualities referenced above, Tesla faces numerous issues and difficulties too. The most essential being the absence of experience. Model 3 is released in a prominent way in March, 2016. More than 325,000 reservations being made in the principal week as asserted by the organization, the creation and conveyance of this model did not begin until the last quarter of 2017, well over a year later. Numerous experts credit this issue to the moderate advancement and delivery of the battery module mechanical production system. The model 3 has caused boundless worries of the believability of Tesla and the stock value fell 22 percent in March 2018 as the uncertainty of Tesla not having the capacity to convey their word. Tesla, confronting much weight, gave a positive reaction in the Q1 report of 2018. The creation rate expanded as Tesla detailed more than 9,700 of Model 3 were delivered in the primary quarter of 2018. This specific issue may has been improved, yet the shortcoming of the absence of experience uncovered by this specific issue is as yet a major worry for Tesla. Another worry, maybe progressively essential, is that the immense measure of capital spending by Tesla not having the capacity to be secured by its income and outside venture. Tesla has been announcing total deficit since 2008. In any case, Tesla is beating through tremendous measure of cash as it increase generation. It has confined more than 3 billion dollars in 2017, 1.2 billion of every 2016 and 2.2 billion out of 2015 on capital consumption. Since the need to continue putting resources into innovation, open up administration stations and charging stations everywhere throughout the world, and plan for the creation of Model Y that Elon Musk has referenced, the serious capital consumption isn’t probably going to go down for no less than a couple of years. In spite of the fact that the CEO anticipated that the organization will turn out to be reasonably beneficial in 2018, numerous investigators anticipated that Tesla is going to need to fund-raise again to satisfy its 2.9 billion dollar obligation that accompanies the merger with SolarCity.

Situational Analysis

Environmental:

Tesla was founded on July 1, 2003 by a group of engineers that strived to develop a commercially viable electric vehicle. The company was purchased by Elon Musk, the current CEO in October 2008, who continues to strive towards the Tesla’s goal, to help transition the world to sustainable energy, starting with commercially viable electric vehicles. Internally, to achieve this goal, Tesla needs to balance affordability with effectiveness to create a customer base, allowing Tesla to further develop their technology. Additionally, Tesla has a functional based hierarchy, allowing for each functional group to perform efficiently. Externally, Tesla wants to be seen as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional automobiles and hopes to utilize this to generate sales from customers who care about the environment and strive towards a renewable energy future.

Industry

Tesla is primarily in the automotive industry, with its electric vehicles, but has also extended into home power, and batteries through its Powerwall product. Resulting from this, Tesla needs to heavily innovate its power storage technology to be able to compete with other, gas and diesel automotive manufactures to be profitable. Currently, Tesla has managed to develop vehicles that have competitive prices, and performance to gas power alternatives.

Competition

Following Tesla’s success, other companies have begun to develop their own line of electronic vehicles that directly compete with Tesla’s. Although companies like Jaguar, Porsche, and Audi are developing electronic vehicles, primarily SUV’s, that compete with Tesla’s Model X and Y, they are still a few years away from matching Tesla’s current specifications.  Additionally, other companies like BMW, Nissan, Chevy, Ford and Kia, have also developed electric vehicles, but they are lower end and do not compete with Tesla as they are reaching a different customer group.

Corporate Business Strategy

Tesla’s business strategy since its first commercial release has been to start by developing high end vehicles and sell them to fund lower end production. Tesla first did this 2008 with its release of the Roadster, a high-end limited vehicle that they used to fun the production of the Model X and S. Currently, Tesla offers three different vehicles; Model 3, Model X and Model S, with a new Model Y announced and set to release in 2020. The Tesla vehicles currently range in price from $35000 on the low-end to $125000 base price on the high-end. This allows Tesla to provide vehicles to a larger range of customers. Additionally, Tesla has invested in building large battery production facilities called Gigafactories. These factories will allow Tesla to increase the rate of production and decrease production cost of the batteries they use in their vehicles, reducing the production cost of their vehicles. This will allow Tesla to reduce the cost to purchase a Tesla.

Competitive Position

Tesla’s main competitive advantage is they have already developed and implemented the technology required to create electric vehicles. This allows them to continue to develop and innovate in the industry, while other competitors will first have to develop the technology Tesla already has in order to innovate further. Additionally, the use of Tesla’s Gigafactory to produce its own batteries, allowing them to reduce production costs of the products they sell. Also, Tesla has proven themselves to be a reliable and trusted brand in the electric automotive industry with the quality of their past products. Newer competitors do not have this reputation and will need to develop it before they will be able to match Tesla’s sales. Finally, Tesla does all its own selling and servicing of their vehicles, allowing them to keep all profits made of sales and repairs. The main disadvantage Tesla is currently facing is the price of the vehicle, many companies offer lower end electric vehicles for a lower price, allowing them to reach a different market than Tesla can reach.

Tesla has been working at a shortfall for as long as quite a long while, coming full circle in a $1.96 billion total deficit ascribed to basic investors for 2017 . These misfortunes are normal in a quick paced tech organization and can basically be ascribed to an absence of economies of scale; need to set up conveyance, charging, and administration focus foundation; and the expense of inclining up creation.

Notwithstanding, the billion dollar for every quarter rate at which Tesla consumes money, a deadly autopilot crash, and the 2017 model 3 fabricating difficulties have bothered financial specialists. The fundamental system proposal that Tesla should concentrate on is improving its assembling proficiency. The organization needs to venture into new outside business sectors just as include semis and open transport vehicles to its product offerings. In any case, these developments will be insufficient in creating incomes if its present plant framework can’t keep up generation productivity.

Moreover, Tesla should work to enhance its store network the same number of its present providers are single-source, hence making a solid provider power and potential for future postponements. At long last, with its present high rate of money spending, Tesla should either discover approaches to cut expenses or extend its financing and contributing exercises.

STRATEGIC DISCUSSION ( NATURE, MEANS AND DYNAMICS]

Tesla has a history of beating the odds. CEO Elon Musk has said he believed the company had around a 10% chance of success when it was founded in 2003, since then the company has won awards for its vehicles built an enthusiastic fan base and watched its market capitalization approach and at times top of those of general motors, Ford and Fiat-chrysler. But Tesla has faced a number of problems/challenges, including concerns over its finances, ability to build cars at scale and public comments attributed to Musk and Tesla. Now the company is at an inflection point.

FINANCIAL PROBLEMS

After ten years of losses, Tesla finally announced its first-ever quarterly profit in 2013, but it did not exactly keep that up. In February 2018, the company announced that it ended 2017 with its largest quarterly loss ever $675 million. Musk has also secured his exit strategy if Tesla’S angry customers, disgruntled employees and uneasy shareholders becomes a perfect storm who will eject him far from the boardroom if he can’t resolve financial issues the company has. Tesla has thousands of customers lined up ready to buy a Model 3 which has a $35,000 starting price but it keeps badly missing its production targets and it is burning through cash as it does so. And it faces deadlines to pay more than $1 billion in bonds due over the next year $230 million due in November and $920 million next march. It was supposed to be that the company financial success at the end of 2018 changed its destiny and behave like the real car company CEO Elon Musk so often talked about.

But just two months into 2019 analysts and former insiders are worrying that these aren’t from last year. And sometimes they were pretty bad.The beginning of the was consumed by delays in the production of the model 3, the upscale company’s more affordable sedan. Then, of course, there was the $20 million fine Musk had to pay for misleading the public about plans to take the company private, as funding was in fact not secured and the $20 million fine Tesla had to pay for the same infraction. Meanwhile, all year, in a still seemingly never-ending line, executives and engineers the company, both the company’s CFO and general counsel announced their exits. And analysts still worry that Tesla is not holding enough cash to finance its ambitious growth plans. Analysts already had concerns about Tesla’s cash before all this, because the company paid a $920 million bond in cash, which grabs quite a chunk from almost $4 billion pile. The question on everyone’s mind is what happens if Tesla goes bankrupt?

Luckily, for tesla they found solutions to their problems, they sold chunks of their companies to big new investors. After the near-death bankruptcy experience Tesla sold a stake in the company to Daimler. Both companies have since divested, but they made some serious profits on their early votes of confidence as Tesla’s value sky -rocketed.

In conclusion, Tesla has accomplished a lot, within a short time, more than some other automobile companies and it can position itself even higher in the globally competitive automotive-transportation industry.
