HR System human resources-related information

Suppose your college or organization is considering a new project that would involve developing an information system that would allow all employees and students/customers to access and maintain their own human resources-related information, such as address, marital status, tax information, and so on. The main benefits of the system would be a reduction in human resources personnel and more accurate information. For example, if an employee, student, or customer had a new telephone number or e-mail address, he or she would be responsible for entering the new data in the new system. The new system would also allow employees to change their tax withholdings or pension plan contributions.

Identify five potential risks for this new project, being sure to list some negative and positive risks. Provide a detailed description of each risk and propose strategies for addressing each risk. Document your results in a two-page paper.

Save your file(s) using the following name convention: “LP8.2_First Name_LastName” for example, “LP8.2_John_Doe.”

Submit this assignment to your instructor via the dropbox “LP8.2 Assignment: HR System.” This assignment is worth 50 points; grading will be based on the LP8 Scoring Guide.

Employer Drug Testing Illustrates A Bigger Problem

I want you to imagine that a friend has found out you’re taking a business ethics course and expressed an interest in one of the assigned topics, Paternalism, Milton Friedman, “Employer Drug Testing Illustrates A Bigger Problem”, and they asked you about the things you’ve been reading about it in class and what do you think about the issue. Think of the critical essays as your thoughtful response to your friend’s inquiry.

The first thing you need to do is pick a topic for and decide what you’re going to say about it.

I tend to be a bit of a traditionalist so I always like so see a good beginning, middle and an end. I will now go through the basic structure I’m looking for.

The Beginning:

Your introduction should provide three important pieces of information:

1. What is the topic?

2. Why is it important/interesting?

3. What are you going to say about it?

The Middle:

Since your friend has not read the assigned readings on the topic you chose you are going to have to provide a summary of the issue and an account of what the assigned authors have so say about it. Provide a summary of the important points raised by they author(s) so your friend will be able to follow the discussion. Once you have provided this foundation I want to see you dig in and critically evaluate what the authors have to say about the topic. What did you like and/or dislike, did if find it convincing or not and, most importantly, I want to know your reasons for accepting/rejecting what they have to say.

What I basically want you to do is convince me that you understand the issue, what the authors have to say about it, that you have evaluated it critically and that you have a thoughtful position on the issue. I want you to try to convince me you’re right about the issue.

The End:

Provide a nice summary, tie up any loose ends, draw your conclusion and your done.

Employment Mediation or Arbitration ADR

Employment Mediation or Arbitration ADR Prior to beginning this discussion, review this week’s weekly lecture.

Employment Mediation or Arbitration ADR
Employment Mediation or Arbitration ADR

Many employers today are asking employees to sign an agreement that requires mandatory ADR for work related disputes prior to commencing employment. The ADR could be mediation or arbitration. In your initial post, evaluate the pros and cons of mandatory ADR provisions in an employment contract and set forth reasons why so many employers are now requiring ADR provisions. Do you think employment should be contingent upon the employee signing the agreement? Few controversies are more damaging to a business than a dispute with an employee. In today’s environment, a single major employment dispute can result in the erosion of substantial assets because of legal fees and a potential jury award.
