ANZ Financial Report

Details of Assignment:

The class will be ideally grouped into teams of 3. You must discuss the selection of teams with your lecturer who may decide to allocate you into teams or form teams using a random process. Your lecturer may accept a team of 4 members – but you need to discuss this with your lecturer, obtain approval and finalise your team members.

Select a set of financial statements for a group of companies and obtain approval from your lecturer for the group of companies that you have selected. Read the annual report including the financial statements of the group and write a memorandum to the board of directors clearly explaining some of the technical aspects of consolidation. Make sure that you draw on the group company’s specific details to explain the intricacies of consolidation to the board, and as much as possible avoid answering in general terms. Please note that your response MUST be in the format of MEMO – a report format will not be marked.

The aim is to write a case study report which analyses a current problem in a business, devises solutions to the problem, evaluates the solutions and from this draws recommendations.

Case study: Reflective Statement Writing

You are required to write a reflective statement on the process of writing the case study

As assignment 2 is a case study written in an educational context you are asked to write a reflective statement on the process of writing the case study: to comment on the process of writing the case study, what you felt you learned from completing this assignment and how this will help you in your studies in the Business Faculty. Reflective writing requires you to use the personal pronoun ‘I’ and does not require the use of sources, unlike most other academic writing.

The reflective statement should be one paragraph, approximately 100-200 words in length, which response to the prompt questions below. The word count is NOT included in the total word count of the assignment. The reflective statement comes at the end of the case study, after the list of references.

Think about the process of writing the case study, this includes the planning stage, the research stage, and the writing stage. Ask yourself the following questions to help you write the reflective statement. Was writing a case study a new experience for you? (I did it on my foundation year)

Which elements of writing the case study did you find easy?

Which elements of writing the case study did you find difficult? (find academic sources maybe)

What feedback advice from assignment 1 did you follow for assignment 2? (cite them right)

Which elements of writing the case study will help you in the future?

What would you do differently if you had to write another case study?

p.s: writing to the CEO so no introduction needed because it’s their company and they know the history about.

yes for an appendix in case

Open Innovation and Strategy – Porter

“Critically evaluate how “open innovation” has transformed business strategy with reference to a company (or organization) of your choice. Comment on Michael Porter’s (2001) claim that the fundamentals of strategy remain unchanged”

I’ve tried my best to deliver an answer to both parts of the assignment. However, since I’m of Portuguese nationality I do have some difficulties regarding the overall approach and structuring of an essay.

I’m not very happy with the work I have done and would really appreciate all the help I can get.

You are to produce a report on one issue or problem of particular interest or concern from one of the following theme areas:
1. IT Industry developments
2. Globalization and its impact upon the IT industry
3. Sustainability and “Green IT”
4. Social Responsibility within the IT industry

Task
To write a 2000 word report on one issue or problem within the IT industry. You must comment on ethical and social issues and you should consider how professional practice has influenced the area. You must place discussion of the issue or problem in the context of your career aspirations. “IT industry” covers not only organisations developing or selling IT as their main business but any deployment of IT for commercial or public sector activities – scientific or military uses are excluded. (Even if you are planning to work in a non-IT vocation (such as teaching), you must still use your career aspirations as the context for discussion.)

Your report may use a current article or news story as the starting point. In any case, you will need to undertake deep research and demonstrate critical evaluation of and clear arguments around the issue or problem you are exploring. If you provide an assessment of future impact, it is suggested that you limit yourself to a 5-year horizon.
