Global Migration Essay Assignment Paper

Global Migration
Global Migration

Critical Thinking 1: Global Migration.

Global migration is currently a hot topic in national and international politics. Migration, as discussed in Chapter 1, is one of the key dynamics of globalization.

In this Critical Thinking assignment, I would like for you to take an in-depth look at migration and the movement of people both within their own countries and between countries. Please read Chapter 11, pages 318-326. Explain where people are moving and why. What effect is this having on people around the world? How does migration help people and communities? Does migration hurt communities? What would happen if people stopped migrating? Would this ever happen?

In addition to the information in Chapter 11, you can also include reliable, well-sourced articles and facts to support your arguments. Look for articles in The New York Times, BBC, and/or peer-reviewed academic journals found at your school library. Propaganda and agenda-driven articles will not be accepted and will adversely affect your grade. Please remember you are approaching this topic as an anthropologist. This paper should not be in any way political. Please present an informed, well-organized, unbiased and un-opinionated look at this topic.

Also remember that this paper should be between 2 and 4 pages in length, typed with Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double spaced in black ink and on white paper. All thoughts and sentences that you find in a source must be cited. Our class will use the Society for American Archaeology citation style available at http://www.saa.org/AbouttheSociety/Publications/StyleGuide/tabid/984/Default.aspx. Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research

Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research A list of issues of global concern is provided above. With a focus on Asia, select five items you deem as the most pressing issues from the list for your discussion. Research on the issues selected and discusses why they are pressing or significant (within the context of Asia).

Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research
Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research

Note that your views could be in the positive light because of the opportunities created or could be negative because of the challenges posed. For instance, migration could have led to increased availability of labor for economic growth (positive) or could have led to increased population and limited resources (negative). In your discussion, also indicate or note how each issue discussed has spurred or could spur a change in any one of the four themes of this class in Asia or any part of the continent.

Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research

Also briefly explain the present and likely future impact/status/perception of each issue discussed (See example below). Please follow this below: Start by clearly telling us the global issue you are discussing (place it as a subheading or include in bold letter in your opening sentence for each issue). Then do the following: (1) Discuss the significance or why the issue is of interest/pressing in the continent. (2) Clearly discuss the relevant course theme, i.e. how the issue discussed has or could spur a change in ONE theme of this course. Discuss the most relevant theme to the issue and use the exact theme words (do not manufacture yours or a variation of the theme). (3) Clearly discuss the present and future impact/status/perception of the issue discussed (see assignment for instructions and example). Follow this exact order provided above. Do not invent yours, not necessary. You have three questions under each global issue to address. Address them in the order provided above. Make it obvious that you are addressing these questions. Do all these before you summarize your findings in the table? Your table is worthless without the discussions. I will suggest you use three short paragraphs under each issue discussed.

Global Concern Issues Focusing on Asia Research

That’s: Short paragraph 1: Significance of issue or why the issue is of interest/pressing in the continent Short paragraph 2: Course theme, i.e. how the issue discussed has or could spur a change in ONE theme of this course. Short paragraph 3: Present and future impact/status/perception of the issue. If you are using only one paragraph to address all these above, please make sure they are clearly addressed in order and easy to find (don’t mix them up) using the exact terms given to you. 3. Finally, copy and complete the summary table. For ease, copy and use the template attached Support your discussion with existing literature. Provide at least one reference/source to support each (of the five) issues discussed, thus, a total of at least five references is required.

Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis
Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis

Competency in current APA format is required of all business graduates of Liberty University, as set forth by the policy of both the graduate faculty and the administration.

Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis Research

You will research and write a paper analyzing the cultural perspectives of doing business in another nation. You will select a nation to study, and have approximately 8 modules/weeks to research and write the paper. Your professor will provide a list of approved nations by the second day of the course. Select a nation, then begin working on the project.

After reading your paper, the reader should be able to comprehensively answer the following research questions. Thus, the research questions form the major aspects (APA Level 1 headings) of your outline.

Ï What are the major elements and dimensions of culture in this region? (See Chapter 2 of the textbook for a list of the required dimensions.)

Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis

Ï How are these elements and dimensions integrated by locals conducting business in the nation?

Ï How do both of the above items compare with US culture and business?

Ï What are the implications for US businesses that wish to conduct business in that region?

Important Points to Consider

This paper must be written in strict conformance to current APA format, and contain a minimum of 24 pages of content (excluding the title page, abstract, and references) utilizing at least 24 references from reputable professional and/or scholarly journals and/or informational venues that deal with the content of the course (i.e., not blogs, Wikipedia, newspapers, etc.).

Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis

Some students do not fully understand the difference between plagiarism and paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is when you take a source or someone elseís idea and say it in your own words. When you paraphrase, you must still give the authorís name, date, title of the source, the scholarly journal from where it came, and the exact website address or book from where it came. However, when you directly quote a source, it must have quotation marks around the quote, or (if 40 words or more) it must be set in block quotation format. Give detailed information of where you acquired the quote.

Brazil Global Business Cultural Analysis

For the purpose of this academic paper, adhere to the following rules when quoting or using a source:

Ï Do not directly quote more than 120 words from any 1 source.

Ï If the source is 2,000 words or less, do not directly quote more than 50 words from it.

Ï Do not use the same source more than a total of 3 times within the whole document for quoting or paraphrasing.

Ï Quotes must contain the section (if provided) and a paragraph or page numbers of the quote and this information must be placed in the reference.

Ï In all instances, use current APA guidelines for citations and references.

The research paper should be in essay format but make sure to answer all six questions (see A-F below). To enhance the flow of the text, it is recommended to integrate the answers to the given questions rather than answering them one-by-one. You may, however, use subheadings in the body of your paper if you feel more comfortable with such a structure.

The paper topics* are:

  1. Biodiversity (loss & conservation of biological diversity);
  2. Climate change (global warming, greenhouse effect, climate justice, etc.);
  3. Deforestation (illegal logging, the rapid pace of destruction, etc.);

Non-scholarly material from the courseware package and the internet can be used in addition to the two peer-reviewed/scholarly references (provide the page reference to the original document for direct quotes if possible, not the page number of the courseware pack). All pages (and figures and tables, if incorporated) must be numbered; all citations (and figures if included) must reference its original source (use APA format!). Prior permission or provision of an official document is required for make-ups; late submissions will be docked 5% per day.

At my discretion, the assignment might be checked for plagiarism. This service may be used for some or all student research papers, as the case may be.
