The Intergovernmental Revenue Time Trend Model

The general fund revenue has grown for the last decade from $6.7 million to $24.7 million. However, annual revenue growth has slowed recently from 20 percent a decade ago to an average of under 5 percent for the past several years. During this time, the intergovernmental revenue from the state and federal government has grown but become increasingly unstable. Moreover, the town’s fiscally conservative leadership has been unwilling to raise property taxes significantly.

The Intergovernmental Revenue Time Trend Model

The service demand increase and revenue growth decrease have given impetus to the need for enhanced forecast accuracy, particularly in the utility taxes, which have ranged between 15 percent and 18.5 percent of general revenue over the past ten years. Debate over Sovereignty and the Future of the State

Debate over Sovereignty and the Future of the State Answering today’s study question “What is the “Hard shell thesis” and how does it factor into the debates of sovereignty and the future of the state?”

Debate over Sovereignty and the Future of the State
Debate over Sovereignty and the Future of the State

and after reading the article about Trump’s selective view of the sovereignty in UN speech, Trump’s hard shell thesis of ” I will always put America first” and encouraging other leaders to do the same for their countries was indeed a selective definition of sovereignty.

Trump’s defiant speech coupled spiced with threats and denunciations discredits UN’s principles of equal rights and self-determination of peoples enshrined in the charter of United Nations.

I am afraid that if other countries/states follow Trump’s ideology of “American’s first” in the name of sovereignty, there is will be more human rights abuse because these countries can claim “this is our business” and no other country should interference in our political and economic affairs.

Unequal Distribution and Power Imbalance

Unequal Distribution and Power Imbalance How do these two texts represent a culturally determined power imbalance and how does it impact the characters involved?

Unequal Distribution and Power Imbalance
Unequal Distribution and Power Imbalance

For Essay 2, you will choose two of the texts listed below and you will evaluate how social or cultural custom leads to imbalances of power.

All of the texts in question depict cultures that are built on the unequal distribution of power, whether between colonizers and colonized, whites and non-whites, the elderly and the young, the rich and the poor, men and women, or even between one woman and another or one man and another.

Unequal Distribution and Power Imbalance

You will choose ONE type of power imbalance (for example, an imbalance between colonizers and the colonized) that appears in TWO texts.

Then you will interpret the consequences of this type of power imbalance. The central question your essay should answer is this: How do these two texts represent a culturally determined power imbalance and how does it impact the characters involved?

While you are required to pick ONE type of power imbalance in two texts, it is possible that these imbalances impact characters in slightly different ways from one text to the next.

In other words, the power imbalance in question need not operate in exactly the same way in both texts. Unlike your previous essays, in this essay, your thesis will be supported by evidence from two texts.
