Behavioral characteristics Groups and Personality Styles Behavioral characteristics that are grouped together into four personality styles For today’s workforce, collaborating with colleagues is essential for success. Your organization wants you to take a DISC assessment to learn more about your personality style.
Behavioral characteristics Groups and Personality Styles
DISC is a personality assessment tool that focuses on behavioral characteristics that are grouped together into four personality styles. People with similar personality scores tend to exhibit specific behavioral characteristics common to that profile. Each of these personality styles has unique preferences for communication, behavior, and leadership. Being aware of your preferences allows you to better understand how you might react in certain situations. Being aware of others’ preferences allows you to better communicate with those personality styles. Conduct an Internet search for a free DISC personality test; take the test and save your results, including the web site’s URL. You will use these results for reflecting on how your personality can affect your decisions in a professional environment. Summarize the feedback you receive. Define the four personality types and how they relate to you. How will you use the understanding of different personality styles to better communicate and lead? How could your personality affect your decisions in a professional environment?

Your assignment is to write a review of the literature on a particular topic in Cognitive Psychology. Your review should be a maximum of 12 double-spaced pages (including title page and references). Fonts should be set at 12-point, with 1-inch margins.
Objectives
Writing a literature review will help you achieve three important objectives:
(1) expand your knowledge of cognitive psychology by focusing on a research area that is of
particular interest to you,
(2) further develop your skills as a critical reader of psychological research, and
(3) develop your scientific writing skills.
Requirements
Imagine you are a Cognitive Psychologist and having read many research papers on a specific topic (e.g., procedural learning in amnesia), you decided to write a review paper that synthesizes the current state of the literature. You can think of this as a good Wikipedia entry of a topic in cognitive psychology — the key difference is that your review paper will be more detailed, will cite scientific sources as references and will be written in APA style
General
Read the “guide to writing a literature review” posted on Blackboard
Include at least ten primary sources articles. Primary sources mean empirical papers (i.e., papers that report original experiments), not review chapters or book chapters.
Maximum of 12 pages, including Title page and Reference List.
Font size = 12 point, margins = 1 inch
You must use APA format, as described in the latest edition of the APA Publication Manual.
No quotations! Paraphrase and cite the source.
Specific Sections of the Review
Title page
Introduction ending with thesis statement (1 paragraph/page)
Body of review that follows organization laid out in thesis statement (6 -8 pages)
Brief summary of your thesis and the evidence supporting that thesis (1 paragraph/page)
Reference List (1 page)
Topic
You may choose any topic we have, or will, cover in class or lab, or any other topic in Cognitive Psychology for that matter. A quick perusal of the textbook will provide a number of potential topics to choose from. Another great source is Current Directions in Psychological Science, which Falvey Library carries. The best strategy is to pick something that interests you! You should be careful, however, not to choose a topic that is too broad (e.g., “attention” or “memory”), focusing instead on more manageable topics (e.g., spatial attention, mood congruent memory, mental imagery, etc.). If you define your topic too general there will simply be too much relevant research, making it very difficult to decide which are the most relevant papers.
Most importantly, you need to be sure that the topic you choose addresses a theoretical issue in Cognitive Psychology. Be careful not to choose a topic that strays into Clinical, Developmental, or Abnormal Psychology.

Personality Term Paper: The assignment is double spaced, 10-12-page paper, not including title page or references. The mark for the paper will be reduced if the 10-page minimum is not met, minus 10% for each page under the 10-page minimum. The assignment is to select a topic in personality psychology and discuss a set of articles surrounding the topic. This is an integrative paper, so develop a theme and discuss the issues around that topic with the sources you have selected. Peer reviewed sources only. Please no website sources or textbooks. An outline is a useful aid to construct your paper. A brief introduction, development of your arguments and conclusions would be an effective way of structuring your paper.
There should be 2-3 paragraphs per page. Please avoid the use of large block quotations. The style should be that of a scientific paper. This refers to the more impersonal style of the scientific paper, avoiding the use of colloquial language, avoiding the use of “I”

Do you believe that the psychologist is portrayed in a realistic light? Why or why not? What is the impression of psychotherapy that is conveyed through the media? Explain. Discussion Prompt 2 Read about the following famous psychological experiment and watch the videos. First, identify the six research methods discussed in your text (Ch 2, Fig, 3). Which research method or methods do you think were used in this study? Explain your reasoning. One of the ethical concerns noted is the level of deception used by the researchers. In modern psychology, the deception would not be permitted, perceived as unethical. Why deception is considered unethical in psychological research now? What impact might it have on participants? Where do you stand on the issue? Why do researchers use deception? Do you see any other ethical concerns with this experiment? Do you think a different research method would be able to produce the same or similar results without the ethical concerns? Explain. http://www.simplypsychology.org/milgram.html
