Progressive Era Reforms History Essay Paper

Progressive Era Reforms
Progressive Era Reforms

Progressive Era Reforms

What do you think effected the United States more socially, economically, and politically: Progressive Era Reforms or WWI?

Writing Assignments should be in an MLA format. This should include an MLA style heading, title, and paragraphs. A good writing assignment would have an introduction with a thesis sentence, body paragraphs that begin with a strong topic sentence, body paragraphs that use evidence from course materials to support their assertions, citations of that evidence, and then a conclusion. Also include a Works Cited Page, which is where you put the full citation of your work.

Each assignment should be between 500-700 words. It could be a little under or over, but that is a good length guideline. Avoid copy and pasting large chunks of the textbook. Instead, paraphrase and cite the information. Paraphrasing is putting information into your own words. If you do use a quote, then you must use quotation marks or it is considered plagiarized. You may use outside sources, but they need to be scholarly sources, so avoid things like history.com, Wikipedia, etc.

Be sure in you are answering the question that is provided in the prompt. I look forward to reading your submissions. I will try to grade them within a week of the due date.

Ancient Greece Mycenaean End Period Strife

Why was there so much strife at the end of the Mycenaean period?

Lycurgus really brought significant change to Sparta. He spent a great deal of time traveling throughout the Mediterranean studying the different forms of government, different economies, and different societies. Upon his return to Sparta, he recommended a new way to increase dedication to the state and a way to end greed and corruption in the Spartan economy.

He first addressed the economy by replacing the coinage used in Sparta with iron. That way, the coins only had value within Sparta’s borders and people would be less likely to try to hoard it or to amass more wealth than their neighbors would. Each Spartan citizen held an allotment of land, worked by helots, to provide for their food and income.

Once everyone was on equal economic terms, he turned to alter the way families related to each other.

From now on, children did not belong to their parents; they belonged to the state. A state official examined each child after birth and decided whether they were fit to remain in Sparta or abandoned to the elements. Only the most physically fit children gained acceptance into Spartan society.
