Compare Significant of Similarities and Differences Overview

Write a 7-8 page (double-spaced) comparison essay with a research component. Your task is to present a clear thesis (an interpretation in the form of an argument) about two eligible course texts. Use one of the topics below as a starting point for your argument. As with the previous essay, you are expected to compare and contrast the texts and explain why the similarities and differences are significant. You must use textual evidence (quotations from your primary sources) and close textual analysis to support your thesis. In addition, in this essay, you must strengthen your argument by including quotations from at least two appropriate (read: credible, applicable, probably current) secondary sources. You are expected to cite all sources – primary and secondary – according to MLA style guidelines. Please save time to edit and proofread your work carefully.

Eligible Course Texts

Any winter-term text is eligible, including the films and texts that are covered after the due date.

Topic

  1. Compare and contrast two narratives written in the first person (e.g., Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Handmaid’s Tale, and/or The Hunger Games). Analyze the authors’ use of first-person narration and explain why the manner of narration is important.

Compare Significant of Similarities and Differences Research Component

The research component consists of five steps:

1) Finding and reading secondary sources.

2) Assessing their merits—(how) do they help you to understand the primary texts or the topic better? Do you agree with the arguments presented? How is your thinking different from the critics’?

3) Quoting at least two appropriate secondary sources in the body of your essay.

4) Commenting on the quotations that you have provided. (Explain or contextualize the quotation, if necessary. Briefly discuss the merit of the critic’s argument. Connect the quotation to your thesis.)

5) Citing all sources according to MLA specifications in both the Works Cited list and throughout the essay using parenthetical documentation.

Method of Evaluation

Comparative essays will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

– The clarity and coherence of your argument (thesis statement and structure of argument),

– Clarity of expression (sentence-level writing),

– The quality of your engagement with the primary and secondary texts,

– Your demonstrated understanding of course concepts,

– correct use of MLA formatting and citations,

– And evidence of careful editing and proofreading.

The Creative Option will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

– Completion of a satire informed by course concepts and texts,

– The clarity with which you explain your satire in terms of course concepts and texts,

– The quality of your engagement with your primary texts (i.e., your own satire and the course texts that you invoke),

– Effective use of research to strengthen your explanation,

– Evidence that the satire and especially the accompanying essay have been edited and proofread carefully,

– And correct use of MLA formatting and citations

Aviation Crimes and Scenarios Essay Paper

Aviation Crimes and Scenarios Essay Paper Post your thorough and complete answers to any one of the following scenarios.

Aviation Crimes
Aviation Crimes

Provide the scenario number in your answer.

Set 1

A U.S. aircraft repairman is looking for ways to cut costs. He’s heard that the alternators used in piston-powered general aviation aircraft are identical to automotive ones, except for the data plate and price, with the aircraft ones costing about four times as much as the automotive.

The mechanic pick up a used automotive alternator cheap from a junkyard, cleans it up and paints it, fabricates and attaches a reasonable facsimile of an aircraft alternator data plate, and installs the alternator on a customer’s aircraft, charging the customer the price of a new aircraft alternator.

Has he committed any crimes?

If so, and the aircraft crashes as a result of the alternator failing while flying in clouds, killing the owner-pilot, what are the possible penalties the repairman could face?

Set 2

A U.S. aircraft owner-pilot has learned aerobatics and gotten into the airshow business as a performer. His aircraft doesn’t carry much fuel, which is fine for the aerobatic performances over the airport but requires frequent fuel stops en route to and from shows.

The airplane has two seats, and although the owner-pilot isn’t FAA-certified as a mechanic he does have some mechanical aptitude. He fabricates a fuel tank that fits into the other seat where he can secure it with the restraint harness and has a quick-disconnect fuel line, so he can pull the tank out when he arrives at the airshow site, fly his routine without it, then quickly re-install it for the flight home. He takes it up for a local flight test and it works fine.

Has he committed any crimes?

If so, what are the possible penalties he may face?

Set 3

For a nation or union of nations other than the U.S.:

Determine whether any criminal or other law(s) exist governing the possession or operation of unmanned civil aircraft.

If so, describe the actions prohibited and the penalties for violations

Provide hyperlinks to references relied on.

Set 4

For a nation or union of nations other than the U.S.:

Determine whether any criminal or other law(s) exist governing the sale, purchase, possession, use, or aiming at aircraft of laser pointers.

If so, describe the offenses specified and penalties for violations.

Provide hyperlinks to references relied on. on this discussion.

Human Resource Roles Essay Paper

Human Resource Roles Essay Paper In order to achieve the desired outcomes of new strategic HRM practices and positively impact organizational performance, it is absolutely essential to establish a mutually beneficial partnership with leaders and employees throughout the organization.

Human Resource Roles
Human Resource Roles

Formulation of HRM strategies and implementation of supporting practices must involve the collective inputs of many constituents—employees, HR professionals, line managers, and executive leadership. Building this essential partnership can be a challenge and involves communication in the delivery of strategic HRM practices in multicultural settings around the globe. HRM professionals need to understand the organizational strategy, the organization’s customers, and competitors in order to assist in the process of transformation, act as a change agent, and add value through HRM practices.

Human Resource Roles Essay Paper

You have reviewed many of these practices in the previous weeks. This week there is an emphasis on the need to work as internal consultants. HR professionals should be able to highlight business opportunities and challenges through people and proactively consider human resource implications and opportunities that may add value. The strategic HR partner provides information on various options, which are part of a plan to realize the organizational vision, and also appraises executive management of potential HR challenges, opportunities, and implications.

You also learned through this course that what distinguishes the field of strategic HRM from earlier transactional models is the focus on organizational outcomes, including financial performance and the ability of HR policies and practices to positively impact HR resources and enable the organization to realize and sustain a competitive advantage within a global economy. Even with a new emphasis as a strategic partner, HR still has opportunities to act in a transactional role or service provider.

Human Resource Roles Essay Paper

Compose a cohesive and scholarly response based on your readings and research this week that addresses the following:

Which role(s) do you believe are most critical for the success of an HR professional as a strategic partner: change agent (transformational), internal consultant (business partner), or service provider (transactional) and why?

What are some ways to gain support for new strategic HRM practices from all organizational members?

Review your post from Week 1 in the Discussion on HR professionals’ role as strategic partners. Reflect on whether your perceptions have changed and/or any insights you have gained as a result of this course.

All work must be in APA format. Please include an introduction and conclusion.

Please include at least 3 references.

Marketing Manager for Bud Beer Research Paper

Marketing Manager for Bud Beer You are Marketing Manager for Bud Beer, produced by the Budweiser Division of Anheuser-Busch, the brewing company with the highest market share in the United States. The second-highest market share belongs to Miller’s Beer, produced by Miller Brewer Company. So you know that Miller’s is your most-important competitor.

Marketing Manager for Bud Beer
Marketing Manager for Bud Beer

You also know that watching football on TV makes beer more enjoyable. Therefore Bud sales (the demand for Bud Beer—quantity of Bud Beer demanded, number of six-packs per week) depends on the price of Bud beer (dollars per six-pack), the price of Miller’s Beer (dollars per six-pack), and TV football (number of football games on TV per week). Currently, the level of Bud sales is eight million six-packs weekly.

Marketing Manager for Bud Beer Research Paper

Here are three scenarios, which are independent of each other; so they should be answered separately. Parts (a) and (b) of scenarios 1 and 2 are each worth one point, and scenario 3 is worth one point. Thus a total maximum point score of five.

Scenario 1. The CEO asks you to predict the increase in Bud sales if Bud price is reduced by ten percent. You have to make a sensible prediction.

(a) In the context of this scenario, what elasticity information do you need? (i) Name this elasticity (ii) Define this elasticity.

(b) What assumptions must you make using this elasticity for your prediction? Explain your answer.

Scenario 2. The CEO has learned that Miller will reduce the price of its beer by five percent. The CEO wants to know the effect on Bud sales if she does not reduce the price of Bud beer and if TV football is unchanged. Your staff informs you that the cross-price elasticity of the demand for Bud beer with respect to the price of Miller’s beer is 2.

(a) Why is this elasticity positive (+2) rather than negative (-2)? Explain thoroughly.

(b) What is the new level of Bud sales (number of six-packs per week)? Show your computation.

Hint: Be sure to distinguish between the change in sales and the new level of sales.

Marketing Manager for Bud Beer Research Paper

Scenario 3. The National Football League announces that TV football will increase from 95 games to 105 games. Your staff informs you that, assuming the price of Bud beer and the price of Miller’s beer do not change, Bud sales will increase from eight million to ten million weekly.

Using the “midpoint method,” compute the “elasticity of demand for Bud beer with respect to TV football.” Show your computation.

Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits

Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits Argumentative paper: Should there be mandatory drug testing to receive welfare benefits.

Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits
Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits

My stand on this paper is that there should be mandatory drug testing to receive them. I want somewhere in the paper it to talk about welfare fraud

You need to complete an argument paper that proves your topic is a problem in North Carolina.  You are going to show the following in your paper:

Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits Essay Paper

  1. A specific claim that promotes your position (side) on how your topic/issue is a problem in North Carolina – Remember, the argument is based around the idea that people disagree and/or take various sides on an issue. You need to take a firm stand on how your topic is a problem in our state. Do not simply state a fact, like, “There are many homeless people in North Carolina.” This is not an argument. It is a fact that has been proven with research. However, you could argue, “The increasing homeless population in NC is largely due to mental health issues that are not properly addressed because of state laws.”
  2. Logical reasoning and evidence that prove your claim – You need to craft an organized and logical argument that proves your claim. You must present sound reasoning that is supported with scholarly, relevant and recent evidence. It is also important how you present this information, meaning the research you use should not take the place of your own writing. Remember, research is there to support YOUR reasoning, not take the place of it.
  3. You understand opposing claims/points of view and can refute them – You need to show that you understand the varying points of view on your topic and that you can analyze, paraphrase or summarize them. Also, you are able to refute these opposing claims using logic, reasoning, and evidence (not simply stating that others are “wrong” in their opinion).
  4. You understand your college-level audience and write to them in an objective, high style using clear, concise language – Even though this argument is based off your own opinion, you still need to write in a formal manner. Don’t use wording that “hedges” your argument, like, “I believe” and “I think.” Write in a confident tone. You are the authority of this argument. Do not rely on sources too much or have sources take over your essay. Your research should support your voice, not replace your voice as the authority in this argument. You want to continue to show that you have progressed in your writing through this semester. It should be clear, concise and virtually free of basic errors in grammar and mechanics.
  5. You understand how to properly create a full citation and in-text citation using MLA guidelines.

Mandatory Drug Testing to Receive Welfare Benefits Assignment Paper

*To complete the assignment:

  • Write a four-page argument paper (not including your Works Cited page) that focuses on proving your topic is a problem in North Carolina
  • Use MLA citation
  • Incorporate and properly cite a minimum of 5 sources
