Read the article “What retailers can learn from REI’s marketing success”

Next evaluate REI’s approach to social media, focusing on the key elements of the company’s social media strategy and how this strategy ties into the company’s overall marketing strategy. Assess the effectiveness of REI’s social media strategy and discuss possible ways the company could expand on this social media campaign in the future.

Social Media Action Essay Paper Response

AND respond to this below:

SCOTT

Hello Class and Dr. Dotty,

After reading the article it was clear that the company did an outstanding job getting their name out there. After evaluating the REI’s approach to social media was simply for a better cause, for the Black Friday movement. However, their form of action put them on the map with free advertising. With all of the consumers giving their personal stories and then hashtagging REI’s name is a free promotion if you ask me.

REI’s social media was just trying to bring awareness of the movement that they wanted to break the cycle of the other competitors. This shows their brand loyalty, that their business is not going to be hurt for shutting their doors during one of the busiest holidays. This allows consumers to feel trust in the establishment.

Social Media Action Essay Paper

The company was being promoted by the dozens who felt compelled to voice their opinion or views on the acts of REI closing the store for the anti-Black Friday movement. By having brand loyalty through its faithful consumers, this guaranty steady sales. Then again it brings on new consumers, by word of mouth and of course the social media platform reaching a mass amount of potential consumers is the sure fire way to gain a larger audience.

Social Media’s impact Argumentative essay

Write an argument in which you make and support a claim about one way we use a specific type of technology in our daily lives, and the significant impact it is having on us (for better or for worse). You are strongly encouraged to look beyond our readings to explore and choose a topic we haven’t talked about. You will want to make sure your argument addresses a larger cultural issue that you feel is important for readers to understand and view differently than they do. (Example: Sherry Turkle argues that the immediate connectability of social media is shaping an entire generation’s ability to navigate relationships in a healthful way.)

1700 words. Double-spaced. MLA format. Works Cited page in the back. Doesn’t have to have exactly 5 sources but somewhere in the ballpark of 4-6.

Paper #2: Taking a Position

We’ve read and discussed arguments about the impact our different daily uses of technology might have on our psychological, mental and emotional health. Together, Sherry Turkle and Jean Twenge have made claims about how our phone technology in particular has shaped the way we communicate with each other, and deal with daily challenges in our own lives.

Now, it’s your turn to pull a chair up to the table and join the discussion:

Write an argument in which you make and support a claim about one way we use a specific type of technology in our daily lives, and the significant impact it is having on us (for better or for worse). You are not limited to the areas we’ve read about and discussed in class; in fact, you are strongly encouraged to look beyond our readings to explore and choose a topic we haven’t talked about. You will want to make sure your argument addresses a larger cultural issue that you feel is important for readers to understand and view differently than they do. (Example: Sherry Turkle argues that the immediate connectability of social media is shaping an entire generation’s ability to navigate relationships in a healthful way.)

Remember that this is an argument, which means you’ll need to have a defined opinion about your topic/issue, and that opinion will need to be articulated clearly in your thesis up front. As you develop your ideas, think about your audience, and how they will respond to your assertions. Don’t worry about readers that already see the issue your way — think about those that are inclined to view it differently, or at least who don’t see the issue as important enough to care about (yet).

Success in this assignment will depend on:

1. Focus and Cohesion – You must provide a firm, authoritative main claim (thesis statement, defining opinion) up front in this paper, and then continue supporting and developing that claim throughout the argument.

2. Support – Your supporting paragraphs must serve to directly develop and prove your central claim, leaving the reader with no unanswered questions or unsubstantiated points. Your support will come primarily from two different sources: 1) direct observations; and 2) outside research (you are required to integrate two outside sources into this paper). Your support must contribute clearly to your argument. Your two outside sources must be cited and documented per MLA requirements.

3. Structure – Move readers smoothly through your argument with a well-organized sequence of ideas, clear paragraphs, and logical reasoning. We’re looking for an argument that doesn’t go off in unexpected directions, but does develop its relevant points fully.

4. Writing – Read over your work carefully and watch for sentences that seem confusing, awkward or choppy.

As with Paper #1, students failing to submit a hard copy of their rough draft on the day it’s due will be ineligible to turn in a final draft for credit.

You must provide five copies of your rough draft on the due date. Two in-depth workshopping sessions will follow, starting on the next class day. Make sure you arrive on time and prepared for class on workshopping days. If you do not attend, or are late/unprepared on these days, your paper grade will be lowered one full letter grade automatically. Getting feedback for your work is a critical step in revision, and that’s why it’s important for you to be prepared for this phase of the writing process.

Make sure both your rough and final drafts are typed, double-spaced, and appropriately formatted.

What is the Effect of Social Media on Public

What is the Effect of Social Media on Public Opinion This question is a research topic that is supposed to be written as a Type 1 Lit Review not a Type 2 Lit Review

What is the Effect of Social Media on Public
What is the Effect of Social Media on Public

OPTION 1: Write a “Review Article” (Type 1). This will review a large volume of literature on your sub-topic (ex: the effect of social media on public opinion) and includes what is missing from this body of work. It does not deal with a specific research question and hypothesis like the Type 2 does.

WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS OPTION? A short introduction paragraph and the literature review outlining what research has concluded on this topic and what questions are still unanswered. You should break this literature review up into “intellectual categories/sections” with headers if that is helpful but don’t abuse this. There’s no need for more than a few headers and they should not be used just to take up space. At the end of each category, tell the reader how the current research could be expanded or what is still left unknown.

EXAMPLES OF A TYPE 1 THAT WE HAVE READ: The article on Voter Turnout across different countries and the article on Public Opinion on Immigration

Technical Directions for all papers: · Times New Roman font. DO NOT switch fonts throughout the paper. · 12-point size, 1-inch margins, 5-6 pages double-spaced, no less. · Top of page: Name, the option number you are choosing for this assignment (see below) and the title of your paper. That’s it. · In text citations: If you are citing the conclusions of another study, which will happen constantly throughout the literature review, put the authors name and the year it was published in parentheses. Either of the following is appropriate: Example: A field experiment by Gerber and Green (2008) found that social pressure increases voter turnout. Example 2: It is well established that social pressure has the ability to increase voter turnout (Gerber and Green 2008) · Reference Page: At the end of your literature review there should be a reference page with the full APA style citations for each source you cited throughout your paper. · Minimum Article Citation Number: 15 Sources (if you are doing TYPE 1 you should aim for more than this. The more you do for Type 1, the more it improves your grade)

Social Media Audience on a National Scale

Social Media Audience on a National Scale Social media has fragmented the mass media audience, and now it is difficult to attract the kind of audiences that used to exist on a national scale.

Social Media Audience on a National Scale
Social Media Audience on a National Scale

Does this mean that broadcasting is no longer able to support the goals of the political project of nation- building? Or can the nation still make use of traditional broadcasters despite the popularity of social media as a means of distributing media content? If you’re a brand today, there’s a non-zero chance you’re on social media in some way, shape or form. But many brands have an active, thriving social media presence?
